Bass is the definition of a solid bigman but his ceiling isn't very high. Good not great defender. Good not great offensive player. Best trait may be toughness but his skill level is lacking.

I'd rather have Diaw. I'd rather have AK47. I'd rather gamble on Lorbek. Bass is better than nothing but his upside is so limited he might kill any chance the Spurs have at a championship if he's the MLE bigman signing of the season.
I don't want Bass as the MLE big at all. I'd rather all those players you mentioned first. What about a sign and trade sending Boston a player or two for Bass instead? Would we still have the MLE to spend if Bass' contract is a bit bigger than the players traded?

Bass can hit a jump shot which would help the Spurs more than Blair who doesn't even take them, let alone hit them. Also, Bass is a better defender.

    Do not want

Undersized, low-iq, can't pass and his jump-shot is not reliable at all. The only thing he would definitely help is in terms of rebounding.

    Prefer Diaw tbh

^ Bass is a poor rebounder. He was on a horrible rebounding team and still didn't pull down very many boards.

Yeah tim you're right, 6 rpg in 31 minutes is not that great, especially in a poor rebounding team like the Celtics !

I don't even know why SA wants him then. By watching a few Celtics games last season, he looked solid rebounding and he was definitely a player that hustles a lot. Other than that, i don't think he was above average at anything.

Average player and undersized. I don't see why the Spurs would want him than.

Hopefully just a potential sign in trade target and not a MLE target.

Either Spurs FO is considering Blair expendable or it's typical smokescreening.

If Spurs want to get rid of Bonner and Blair in their rotation, they will need to add 2 power forward to their roster.

Bass is more suited as a backup. If Spurs can get a good staring PF with their MLE like Kirilenko or Diaw, then going after Bass would be a good idea. It would require a S&T but Spurs have the players/contracts to make it work.

    A rotation of

Parker/whoever Pop decides to be secondary PG
    Green/Manu/Neal
    Leonard/Jackson
    Diaw/Bass
    Duncan/Splitter

    Looks GOOD.

Trade Bonner and Blair for Bass?

Did this rumor mean no more Loberk?

No thanks. We don't need another Dejuan Blair. We need a big man who is actually big, not another undersized fatass.

That is what I was thinking (not use MLE, but S&T), but I don't want full use of the MLE and a S&T that brings another 5-7M per year on the books.

He's undersized at the 4 and the Spurs are already stacked at the three with Leonard and Jack. Bass is a nice player, but I don't see where he fits on this roster.

Good... So you agree the Spurs should stay away from Lorbek.

Brandon Bass staying. Celtics have reached agreement with power forward on 3-year deal, per Herald source.

Alright, well at least he's not S.A.'s answer. Would have made little to no sense.
