sons the truth of the matter is that Duncan being the best player on the U.S. team in 2004 did nothing but pad his stats against pussy teams like Angola, Puerto Rico, and Greece (basically teams that if Matt Bonner played there he could look like Kareem Abdul Jabbar) ... but then the bed when it counted against teams that actually had some talent and when his country needed him the most. check the stats.

so just to set the record straight with statistical facts. Tim Duncan was clearly the best player on the 2004 Olympic team, I mean it was his team. However in the two biggest games for the U.S. team in 2004 Duncan was pretty much nowhere to be found ...

    Semi-Finals vs Argentina

    Argentina: 89
    USA: 81

    Duncan: 10 points, 6 rebounds, 3 turnovers

    Top USA Performer

Stephon Marbury: 18 points (8 of 15 shooting)

    Bronze Medal Game vs Lithuania

    USA: 104
    Lithuania: 96

    Duncan: 6 points (1 of 7 shooting)

    Top USA Performer

    Shawn Marion: 22 points (9 of 15 shooting), 6 rebounds, 3 steals

Son, I thought your had Iverson as the best player on that team. I'm confused.

King Cornerstone would have done this to Argentina and Lithuania:

Your team having those two players (Marbury, Iverson), with them being the team leaders, would really get you to the top but because of Duncan's inability to step up during that time, they weren't able to. This, I think, is based on the OP's perspective .

On a serious note though, what is your expectation on an Olympic team led and ball-dominated by Iverson and Marbury?

no son pay attention. It is crystal clear that Duncan was the man on that team (even if he didn't play like it).

again son please pay attention. its annoying for others who can read and comprehend to have to go back thru all of this .... (from the previous page)

sons many of you are being hypocrites by saying that "but... but... but.... Duncan had to play with" excuse because in the 2000 Olympics the U.S. had absolutely no problem bringing home the Gold with this roster ....

    2000 Olympic Team

    Shareef Abdur-Rahim
    Ray Allen
    Vin Baker
    Vince Carter
    Kevin Garnett
    Tim Hardaway
    Allan Houston
    Jason Kidd
    Antonio McDyess
    Alonzo Mourning
    Gary Payton
    Steve Smith

    then Duncan had this ...

    2004 Olympic Team

    Timmy D
    Allen Iverson
    Stephon Marbury
    LeBron James
    Dwyane Wade
    Carmelo Anthony
    Amare Stoudemire
    Carlos Boozer
    Lamar Odom
    Emeka Okafor
    Richard Jefferson
    Shawn Marion

now sons come on. enough with the excuses. look at those rosters. if that 2000 team roster could win Gold, then Duncan's team had absolutely no excuse in 2004 for getting stomped out by Argentina and finishing behind ITALY for the bronze for the love of God.

That 2000 team was stacked at the time, B... the prime versions of Kidd, KG, Vinsanity, and Ray Ray were impeccable and not to be ed with...

The 2004 team had Emeka Okafor and Richard Jefferson on it, c'mon man...

son those Olympic photos were taken at the Wynn Hotel while they were practicing in Vegas. from what I heard Steve Wynn put James Harden and the rest of the team up in a nice multi-level suite at the Wynn while Eric Gordon was sent down the strip to Circus Circus for his deluxe room.

son second of all I do have a team to root for. I also don't have to jump on another cities team bandwagon to cheer for the NFL either like you do.

RT @ekoreen: Eric Gordon's more interested in playing for Venezuela, anyway. USA has no interest in making him star.

(btw another interesting tidbit ... Ginobili stepped up for his country and delivered 29 points in that game while Duncan couldn't do for us)

Son are you really surprised? This is the same player who CARRIED Duncan to 3 championships.

Well, Argentina and Spain are the only good foreign teams. Unlike Greece, which has a team that gets its pushed in by a bunch of tribal shamans that though their airplane to the qualifying games was a monster, they have what it takes to compete.
