Kobe had his his best series against the Suns in 09, and the 5 game sweep against the Magic wasn't much to brag about. He was a legit TOSB in 2010 though.

I'd rather have him play limited minutes (~ 32-35 min). Anything more than that will raise the bar of TOSB higher..

"Kobe says he has 3 good years left".

Translation: "I'm retiring with 8 rings and going out in a blaze of glory."

yea sons because chucking the ball for .430 from the field and .303 (lmao) from behind the arc is playing at a high level. anyone could put up a high amount of points scored when given the green light to chuck the ball 23 times per game on average like Kobe did last season.
Still better than your boy Beli, that says a lot about Stallone's stunt double, he has a lower percentage in less attempts and he can't even outperform an old man

    you haven't heard...don't kill me I'm just a messenger
Two people in his life have helped him keep perspective. His girlfriend, Amy Sherrill, who is finishing school at Wake Forest and visits Duncan in San Antonio when she can, and Mark Scott, his former college roommate whom Duncan lives with and employs as a personal assistant.
''He's been someone who's been around the whole time and who I can go and talk to away from basketball,'' he said of Scott.

played and will most likely end his career with just 1 team. 17+ with a single team is saying something
Any goodwill from that is cancelled out by how he forced his way to the Lakers on draft day in the first place, tbh...

Kobe's tenure with a single team is negated by the fact that he desperately attempted to leave in 2007, throwing a tantrum, ting on the entire organization..

And let's not forget about how Kobrick to the Clippers was basically a done deal in '04 until the Lakers caved and traded Shaq, tbh...

Wanted to be his own star and get out of Shaq's shadow
Needed Elton Brand to carry him instead
"I'd rather play on Mars than the Lakers"
"Jerry Buss lied to me, I don't wanna rebuild!"
"Ship Bynum's ass out for Kidd"

It's saying the team had the balls to stand up and tell him to off when he went into Dwight Howard mode back in 07.

If we looking at almost Duncan nearly split to form an original super friends with Grant and Tmac ... Sure Kobe was an ass but who cares? 2 rings heals all wounds. LOL they did not stand up to him they appeased or pacified him with the Pau trade.

Ego and Pride are a mother er and sometimes a bit much in the world of sports. I hope he is still at least providing something in the next three years. It is hard to imagine the league without Bryant, Duncan, KG, and all the other stars that I grew up watching. It will be interesting to see (after James and Durant) the progression of stars after this era is officially done with.

The obsession with Kobe continues on this board. Even if he is close to TOSB status who hurts the team more than he helps it, you have to appreciate 17 years of service. Sadly, Kobe will never realize when he becomes a true TOSB. There is no turning Kobe's ego off. On the one hand, you have to give him credit for supreme confidence, but father time makes sure all things come to an end. And when your body no longer does what your mind asks it to do, you should retire. The question is, how will Kobe go out - like an egocentric punk, or like Tim Duncan who is aging like fine wine?

Kobe says he has about 3 good years left and "shut it down" after the season to think about the future.

Kobe: "This is my 17th summer. I can't think of any NBA player who's done it at this high level for this long."

    Yep...still a bag.

Depends if the Lakers can get D12 on the team. The Lakers have to somehow be loaded for Kobe to have a good year. He has the best stats from 05-07, but the Lakers stunk, so I am not sure whether you should count those as good Kobe years.
