Nash makes the Lakers better simply with his shooting but don't think he puts them over the hump. Their perimeter defense needs work.
The Lakers are taking a look at Jodie Meeks. I don't watch a lot of Sixers games; can he play?

Yeah -- this is not a Pau Gasol move that instantly puts the Lakers instantly as serious contenders.
Disagree. We upgraded the weakest position. Massively. I mean, this dude lead the league in total assists last year with a ty supporting cast. Gortat - of all players - shot like 56% playing with Nash. Bynum did it with Fish and Sessions. Now he'll be the recipient of Nash's dishes. Consistently. Nash may have 4 or 5 20+ assist games playing with the Lakers this year. Don't underestimate his signing. My only worry is the bench. By evidence of this deal, the Lakers are all in for the next 2-3 years IMO. Meaning they will upgrade the bench. Jamison or G Hill off the bench would be a nice start.
The Lakers have consistently benefited from the history and location of their franchise. No surprises over this one.
If the NYK ever get a semi-competent FO, look out.
welcome to the evolved NBA...
stern...
The weakest position on the Lakers is Kobe's position. Someone break his ankle, you will have a shot at a le.
lol ambchang
He's like Michael Jordan with a 3 point shot.
MJ now, right?
I can't see how this isn't a serious upgrade for the Fakers - Nash, who has the best vision in basketball, now has two big men and Kobe to hit in their spots. Their offence should be a juggernaut.
Fakers will have a weak bench though.
As for Nash, I've always liked and respected the guy immensely... now I'm forced to appreciate Nash the human being while hating Nash the Faker, but I guess that's no different to how I thought about him as a Sun. Meh.
For some reason, the first thought that popped into my head upon seeing that picture was "this is gonna fail miserably".
Worst stripper ever.
just looks so.... WRONG.....
I guess Jeannie Buss wanted to go with 'urban sheik' for the photo shoot. At least have him hanging out at the Spearmint Rhino or something more apropos for a single millionaire new resident in the City of Angels.
That photo, and the entire Nash Laker era, is blasphemy.
Agreed. Nash is definiately the kind of player that is always diplomatic, and says the "right thing" in every interview.... but god its sickening to hear all the "we"'s and "us"'s connected to the Lakers, and that uniform makes me want to jab my eyes out... .and this is before they sign any more of Nash's buddies..... arghhh.
Of course, i'm the one reading and watching the interviews, and reading Laker's boards of celebration and awesomeness. All of a sudden Nash is everything WE'VE been saying for years, and all of the flaws Lakers fans threw in our face for years are things that don't matter. The hypocrisy, while not surprising, is still overwhelming....
Fancy seeing you here Mori.
Hey, where does Cubby troll now that he's not here anymore? lol. (funny, since thats why i started lurking here to begin with, hehe)
Marlon Wayans pissed all over Lakers fans celebrating the Steve Nash pickup by declaring the former league MVP will be nothing more than an elderly cheerleader for the purple and gold.
Just a few hours after Nash -- aka 'Messiah 2.0' -- signed his deal with the Lakers, Wayans summed up the trade for the 38-year-old point guard by saying, "Steve Nash is a dead man. He's getting back massages at half court ... getting ice packs on."
But his ultimate diss was comparing Nash to "The Sixth Man" -- a god awful 90s movie Marlon made ... but NO ONE saw.
Sorry Marlon, it's impossible for Nash to be that bad.
While it doesn't have the same vitrol as Johnny Damon going from the Red Sox to the Yankees, I can see why Suns/Lakers fans would be initially apprehensive about having Nash on/join a bitter rival. However, it happens and for me I support whomever is on the floor for the Lakers and if though it took me a week before I was okay with Nash being on our team, it is something that I really never expected although I would always trade our starting PG and back-up PG on NBA 2K whatever for him.
What an emo post.
This is how a world class first class organization treats it's new members...other teams can learn a thing or two..
