Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints have reached an agreement on a five-year, $100 million contract that all sides concur will guarantee Brees an NFL-record $60 million, including a first-year take in 2012 of $40 million, according to league, players union, and team sources.
The accord was struck Friday morning in the latest round of negotiations between Saints general manager Mickey Loomis and Brees's agent, Tom Condon.

what is the cap? are they frontloading it cause they know they will blow?
No. Only 10.4 million of his 2012 salary will go towards the cap. Saints have planty of cap space.
Saints had no leverage...they badly needed some good news.
