Not to mention that all of these "dummy bombs" would probably kill him too.
This dude walked right out of the theater un-harmed.

If it turns out he got the guns illegally, then it wouldn't have mattered if guns were banned or not....
Heard that too.
I would never go to a midnight movie. Nor go to a MiniMart, Get n' Go at 3am. You are asking for trouble. Too many crazies out there anymore.
As far as guns go, who other than the military/police need something other than a pistol/hunting rifle?
We know he had two hand guns, a shot gun and a semi-automatic.
Which one is illegal?
Gfy infinitely
I'm not for gun control (total ban) by any means. But banning guns would presumably make it tougher for them to be obtained illegally as there would be less guns on the street.
Let me clarify: I mean illegal as in unlicensed and not purchased according to the legal procedures.....
Drugs are illegal and it's still easy for people to obtain them....
There's so much ignorance in this post. I don't even know where to start.
Yeah, this is working very well in the War on Drugs.
Are you suggesting that the current law(s) might have prevented him from obtaining these guns legally?
Because i seriously doubt it.
Besides, Jared Lee Loughner (last year) and the virginia tech kid bought their guns at a walmart IIRC.
Erroneous analogy.
How hard is it to make drugs?
Can you make and sell drugs from your home?
Can you trace drugs back to the manufacturer?
I don't think it's even close to the same thing.
But I would think legalizing drugs would make it even easier for kids to get their hands on them.
You really don't get it, do you? To purchase a gun, any civilian has to go through a long, involved process that varies depending on state (usually involves an interview process and an application) and they can't operate said gun without a license....
Now we have no idea whether the shooter went through this process or not, but if he didn't, then stricter gun laws would not have prevented this tragedy....
Yet mass shooter after mass shooter has goes through each of these respective processes and comes out with one or more guns just fine.
Actually you can trace drugs Mayor Bloomberg
That's not the original point you were making. You said it wouldn't have mattered if guns were banned or not.
Maybe their states should change their standards and processes, then....
All of them as soon as they were used in a crime.
Yes it is the original point, actually.... IF the shooter got his guns illegally, stricter gun laws (i.e. an outright ban) would not have changed anything....
