lol I was wrong. But this one game sampling was bad tbh. Scola was horrible in the first half, played better in the 2nd. Delfino was 100% nonexistent. Delfino is capable of having a big impact, he has played some good games in international basketball before, but he sucked. Argentina played pretty poorly.

The France team is definitely more well rounded, Del Colo, Batum, Gelabale, Seraphin all helped out for this win. Manu didn't have much help at all. There is just a huge drop off in Argentina's bench, something I didn't factor as much.

I can't believe the US only beat this ty, ty team by 6 points .
But that's the thing, the talent and depth that France has allowed them to overcome so-so games from Parker, Diaw and Batum. In Argentina, if the top dogs don't perform they're ed.

If by "that" you mean carrying his team to a championship and earning a Finals MVP trophy, then you'll be happy to know he's already done "that".
But he hasn't. That was Duncan's and Manu's team... he's lucky he could coattail to 3 ships and a Finals MVP with them, tbh...

Now, last year he was definitely handed the keys to the team, made the #1 option, and well, we know how that ended... that's why I'm saying, I can't wait until he delivers with the Spurs too

He was blessed with strong bones and good genetics that have allowed him to stay so consistently healthy. Some other players haven't been so fortunate.
He's also been blessed with a broken bottle on his eye while ing around in a club... Thankfully, some other players have been more fortunate

I bet this is going to eat at Gino. There was only going to be one TP v Manu showdown and TP got him.
Yeah, he had a chance to really prove something tonight. Especially considering how out of shape Tony is due to his eye injury. Tony easily proved he has the most toughness, heart and compe iveness of any player on the floor today. He didn't need two good eyes, or his usual, exceptional conditioning.

The x-factor for France is Seraphin. That kid is scary athletic. If he can push Turiaf for minutes and the rest of the French team plays up to their potential, they'll be a tough out.

As for Argentina, I don't understand how Oberto isn't playing. I'm guessing the heart issue ... but, man, roll him out there in a wheel chair and he's their best center by far. You just don't give yourself a chance when your bigs are Scola, Nocioni and some horrendous scrubs.

    Is Wolkowyski still alive?

Oberto was out because of "personal problems"... apparently he was going through a traumatic divorce, although details are sketchy at best.

Gutierrez isn't bad... the whole team had a poor game today except maybe Manu...

Comments like these make it seem like you're emotional or angry about something. I won't press the issue any further. I only meant to discuss facts and do some postgame analysis with fellow Spurs fans. I apologize for saying true things that made you emotional.

Argentina didn't play that bad tbh. They were just flukey awful from three, that was basically the difference between the Lithuania game and this one.

Argentina needed a better game from Delfino to match up the production of role players like Parker... he just had a bad game... it happens...

I was simply stating facts when you tried to engage me with an obviously emotional post about coattail riding, which included classless, tasteless remarks about Tony's near career-ending injury.

    Buck Harvey ‏@Buck_SA

Ginobili said it was "awkward" early because he found himself wishing Parker's shots would miss. Parker: "I wasn't wishing his would miss."

    Buck Harvey ‏@Buck_SA

Parker on playing against @manuginobili for the first time ever: "It was special. And kind of weird."

    Buck Harvey ‏@Buck_SA

Ginobili said he tried to make it another game. "But after 800 games together, this was something different."
