Back to Mark Richt, Todd Grantham and that defense saved his job last season. mike Bobo may cost him his job this season. UGA was beating MSU badly in the bowl game last season anad bobo started calling a very conservative game. They lostin triple overtime. With Crowell gone and only unproven rbs they'll have to lean on Aron Murray.

I'm worried the defense will keep us in every game but bobo may lose one or two. They should be favored in every game besides SC. With the schedule they have, not to get back to Atlanta would be ahuge disappointment.

    good to see ya man

I like ugga's chances because you guys have a stud QB, something that can take a team a long way. Really, it's the only reason I like you guys over the s...That, and your schedule, lol.

Oh, and what are your (romad) thoughts on UF and UT???
I think UF's only hope is if UGA and SC both have 2 losses and they can somehow pull one of those 3-way tiebreakers out by beating one of those two. I don't think they can beat both. Their schedule isn't bad though. Their d will be better year two under Muschamp, but that offense still is eh. I don't even know if their fanbase will give him another year if their not at least in the East conversation at the end of the year.

UT's only chance is if something crazy happens. They would have to win 2 or 3 of these games: Florida, SC, Bama, UGA and Mizzou. Not to mention they would have to run the table on UK, Vandy (rival and on the upswing although Franklin is a ) Miss St. All doable but I don't trust them.

What's the deal with Auburn? Are they going to respond to two new coordinators? Brian Van Gorder is a ty NFL coordinator, but a f-ing elite college level coach. His Georgia teams were awesome. They went 42-10 with him as d-coordinator and they gave maybe 15 points ppg during that strech. I think they gave up 30 points only once.

I like Van Gorder as the pick for D-coord, he's a proven commodity, but I'm not so sure about Loeffler. I suppose his claim to fame is being a QB coach for UF when Teabag was there, not exactly a fact that gets me excited. Teabag's mechanics were/are , so I'm not real sure how he coached him up other than to say, "put your head down and run straight". After that he went to Temple and coached a statistically impressive offense (in the MAC, lol) to their first bowl victory since 79'. So basically he has 1 year as an OC and a bunch of years coaching QB's (He was a grad assistant QB coach in Brady's final year at Michigan, and also coached Brian Griese, Chad Henne, Drew Henson and John Navarre).

Basically, I don't know. He has kept some of Malzahn's schemes while at the same time implementing many of his own styles. There will be elements of a pro-style, west-coast passing attack coupled with pistol, shotgun, spread, etc. I suppose I expect to see a lot of different formations, which isn't necessarily a good thing, imo. The skill personnel are geared towards the spread, so I'm not sure a pro-style attack is the best option, especially considering the lack of depth at running back. I'm also worried that he may try to get too fancy and implement too much, overloading the players and causing the offense to be uncertain and sluggish (like the offense was under Tony Franklin)

I've learned not to jump to conclusions with new coaches after crying about Chizik loudly upon his hiring. CGC has been very good thus far at putting his staff together, so he gets the benefit of the doubt for this hire.

Auburn's early schedule is ing tough, so we'll all know by 6 games in or so if he's good or if he's going to struggle. The passing game must improve if the Tigers are to have any hope beating Bama/LSU/Ark/UGA

SEC-Wide drug policy a good idea in wake of Mathieu ordeal?

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama - If Tyrann Mathieu played at Auburn, there would be no guessing game. He wouldn't play at Auburn again.
If the 2011 Heisman finalist failed a drug test in 2012 for the third time in his college career -- as it has been reported he did at LSU -- the door wouldn't even be ajar for his possible return to the field in 2013.
That door would be closed, locked and boarded up.
    Why?
Auburn's drug policy is stricter than LSU's.
    How is that possible?
The SEC leaves drug poliLuck_The_Fakers_cies up to its individual members, from the freLuck_The_Fakers_quency of testing to the seLuck_The_Fakers_verity of punishment.
    Does that make sense?
Not in the least. It's about time the conference's 14 members put their heads together to come up with a uniform drug policy for the entire league.
Mathieu's suspension for the entire 2012 season is the perfect time to re-open a debate that's been disLuck_The_Fakers_cussed behind the scenes from time to time but hasn't been a front-burner issue of late. Right now, the playing field is far from level when it comes to getting players that have failed drug tests back on the field.
The 2011 national defensive player of the year was the most high-profile player in the nation's most high-profile league, but instead of getting ready for next Saturday's opener against North Texas in Baton Rouge, he's dealing with his personal issues at a rehab clinic in Houston.
Since LSU announced his suspension 12 days ago, there's been a great deal of debate about whether the school's drug policy would allow him to come back and play for the Tigers in 2013.
LSU's policy is similar to others in the SEC that were provided to The Birmingham News or were available on athletic department websites. Test positive the first time, and there's treatment but no loss of playing time.
Test positive a second time, and there's a suspension for up to 15 percent of the season. Mathieu was suspended for one game in 2011 against Auburn because, ESPN.com reported, he'd failed a drug test for synthetic marijuana.
Test positive a third time, LSU's policy says, and there's a one-year suspension from compe ion.
Auburn's policy, which the school provided to The News, is less forgiving. It hits student-athletes with longer suspensions more quickly, depending on the banned substance involved.
Test positive the first time for traditional or synthetic marijuana, and there's counseling but no loss of playing time. Test positive the first time for another banned substance, and you're suspended for 50 percent of your season.
If your first and second positive tests are for either kind of marijuana, the second positive test triggers a suspension for 50 percent of your season. A third positive test in that category, and you lose your privilege to play at Auburn permanently.
You don't get a third strike if either of your first two positive tests are for a banned substance other than marijuana. In that case, strike two and you're out. Permanently.
"On the testing side, I'm 100 percent satisfied with what we're doing," Auburn AD Jay Jacobs told me Tuesday on 97.3 The Zone.
"We don't have a lot that show up (positive) the second time."
Or the first time. Jacobs said that Auburn conducts about 1,300 drug tests a year on its student-athletes. Less than 1 percent of the tests come back positive, he said, and some of those are for prescription drugs pre-approved by the school's medical staff.
Tougher sanctions for failing more than one test would seem to be a stronger deterrent. They would appear to be in the best interest of helping a student-athlete change his behavior after the first failed test.
Drug policies aren't about compe ion. They're about a mix of compassion and discipline. Wouldn't it be nice to see the SEC's schools pool their data and come up with the best possible program to deal with an issue that every one of them faces?
That way, they could level the playing field while doing everything possible to set their players straight.http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2...policy_wo.html

Most people who live in Louisiana need to use drugs just to cope with being in that craphole.

I still can't figure out why they drug test for weed anywhere in sports. Test for performance enhancing drugs only. It's pretty obvious that he had zero trouble performing while smoking a little weed.

Auburn's star center, Reese Dismukes, was suspended today after getting arrested for public intox. He was a freshman all-american last year

    HUGE loss. ing dumbass

Edit: The more I read about this the more it pisses me off. Auburn obviously has a problem, there have been far too many arrests since Chizik took over. I'd rather lose football games than have a bunch of ing idiots running around doing stupid on (what seems like) a monthly basis

Jesus ing christ, and a week before a huge opener against Clemson

Symple, you have to realize that these players are kids and don't really understand the concept of thinking the long way and yeah the majority don't do things like this; it is not a surprise that alcohol + young adults + adolation of being a ball player = mishaps. It's a shame but this is a phenomena that happens even up into the Pro ranks.

Problem isn't necessarily this one particular situation. It seems as though it's becoming systemic. That's what pisses me off the most.

Most programs have issues like this though. Crowell at UGA, Da Rick Rodgers at UT (what a stupid ing name anyway). Unfortunately, when you need very fast, strong people for a game, the bulk of them are also stupid. It doesn't matter who the coach is, they're going to do stupid .

Unfortunately, It seems our two schools have had maybe the worst problems with this in the SEC

I know Aggy has a pass happy attack. Does La Tech rely on the air show as well?

    Could be ugly if it's a slog-fest

How are you feeling about the matchup?

Both teams run a pass happy attack. Fortunately, If the rain and wind is bad, A&M definitely has a great advantage when it comes to the running game. La Tech's O-Line is very experienced but it still doesn't match up to ours and we have some great running backs to give the ball to. Turnovers will be key if the conditions are bad.

A&M vs La Tech has been postponed until October 13th. Both teams happened to have a bye that week.

This now means we will play 12 straight weeks with no bye and will not have a warm up game before Florida next Saturday.

Look at this stretch now for us.

    10/6 @ Ole Miss
    10/13 @ LaTech
    10/20 vs. LSU
    10/27 @ Auburn
    11/03 @ State
    11/10 @ Alabama
Doubt we win more than 6 games now.
