I think the Phillies are just 5 games back in the Wild Card and the Pitates are choking, the Cardinals merely treading water, and the NL West isn't a real wildcard factor.

It's possible Phillies get that play-in WC game.

    How many games left?

I think the Cards can hold things down. Also, the Brewers are surging too.

The Cardinals, Dodgers and Pirates have been bad to horrible the last three weeks or more, while the Phillies, just five games behind the Cardinals, have been very good. They underachieved all year, while the teams ahead mostly overachieved. Things seem to be balancing out, and while there's only like 15 games left, if they'd all four continued at their recent win clips, I think the Phillies get in.

Just saw the Cards next series of games and they are a cakewalk.

    Padres
    Dodgers
    Astros
    Cubs
    Astros

Then the only tough team Nationals

Phillies aren't too bad either but they get both the Nationals and the Braves.

    Not favorible at all.

Padres are one of the hottest teams right now, but that schedule does favor them.

I kept warning the haters. 5 games back now. The Phillies are winning the 2012 World Series while the NY Giants and Heat repeat. Life is great.

Another Phillies win now puts them at 3 games back. I never gave up on this team. Everyone was laughing at me, and 99.9% of Phillie fans gave up on the season except ME! I had faith! I knew they would do this ! This surge will keep on happening. The Phillies will get that 163rd game, win it, make the postseason, and never look back. The haters are ting bricks right now!

Brewers are right along with them though.

    Just to be clear...

Does the second wild card gets in the playoffs by just being the second wild card or do they go home if they lose the 1 game playoffs?

If that's the case then technically you lose that one game and be at square 1.

I still believe Cards will straighten it out. They can afford to lose a game or two while Phillies have to keep winning the rest of the way.

    Balance will prevail.

All of a sudden Diamondbacks are just 4 out of the last wild card.

I only mention because there's like 6 teams within 4 games of each other. WC expansion wasn't a bad idea after all.

It wasn't a bad idea. What is a bad idea is that re ed 1 game playoff.

That's about the lamest set up ever.

They are 5.5 games out of the final wild card spot with 8 games remaining, with 3 other teams ahead of them for that final wild card spot. It would take a miracle for them to pass them all up with only 8 games left.

With 18 or so games they were within 3 games back and couldn't close the gap. Now they are almost 6 games back with 8 games to play and you think they have a prayers chance?

You have your logic all backwards.
