Divisions are re ed on any American Sport. There's no real use for them.
They make perfect sense in the NFL.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic but no it doesn't. The same that happens in the MLB can happen in the NFL. A crappy 9-7 or 8-8 team can make the playoffs just by winning its division, not only that they would also get a game at home.

I know divisions and conferences exist to avoid extra travelling miles but if it was up to me I would just have everybody playing everybody with the top teams getting to the playoffs.

Don't remember. What I do remember is that last year the Broncos got a game at home (and won) against the Steleers that shouldn't have had if it wasn't for this divisions thing.

They won their division at 7-9, and then knocked the Bunty Chets out of the playoffs, tbh....

If only the MLB had NBA-like schedules, the Tigers easily win the WS with a 3 man rotation of Verlander, Fister and Scherzer

With this long inning by the Tigers, Verlander might just finish the entire game by himself.

6-0. Need about 4 more runs before I'll be ok with Valverde closing this one out.

    2012 Payrolls

    Detroit Tigers - $132,300,000

    Oakland Athletics - $55,372,500
My A's are getting done. Look for them to close this out tomorrow.
LOL What happened? You went radio silence quick.
Detroit really benefited from the current format. They played in a weak division which allowed them to play the Twins, Tribes, and Royals 19 times making their schedule much easier compared to other playoff contenders and they still finished with the 7th best record in the AL. They're not that impressive as a team.
I don't understand Leyland's massive hardon for Valverde. I hope the Tigers lose this series on another Valverde up so they realize how worthless he is.
    Go Oakland A's!!

Tigers starting pitchers with 5 earned runs allowed and a 1.29 ERA. Bullpen closers should be Al Al and Rick Porcello.

If Cabrera and Fielder get their bats going, A-Roid and Derek should just pack their bags

I still secretly wish the Tigers had put Valverde in the 9th and he blew it along with the series. I really want him off this team.

Wildcard team can't host so if Orioles win Detroit gets homefield advantage for the LCS
