I think you can kiss the hardcore socially conservative republican goodbye from the white house. Younger generations are just too liberal when it comes to those issues. Bush will have been the last
No! It's by being soft on this message that we lost! We need more anti-abortion! More anti-gay marriage! More anti-atheism! [/conservatives]

I still suspect that Silver added some artificial padding to protect himself in case Romney pulled a miracle. There's no way I'll believe Romney had a 10% chance based on that advanced of a model.

Then again, I don't blame Silver for protecting his name. Business-wise it would have been dumb to have claimed ~98% since his name would be ruined if Romney won.
Looks like he's going to miss Virginia... other than that, fairly spot on... I'm gonna bump my poll snapshot thread tomorrow and we can compare vs Rasmussen and the like

The popular vote will shift a lot with California but also the rural locations have their votes counted faster usually. I really don't think Romney will win the popular vote. No point even looking at it till much later tonight.

tbh its gonna be tough to win the election if you lose california and california has been voting democrats for the past 6 elections. if the republicans had taken the vast south and west the same dominant way democrats claim the new england region, then they might have a chance to win

Brother, take a few steps back. You're acting silly. This is a close presidential race.
tbh, Florida is the only thing keeping it close... if FL swings blue, it's a landslide...

They should have seen this coming several elections ago because its already happening. Sure, Akin was a up this time around but don't forget about people like O'donnel the last time around. Honestly, if not for the tea party the GOP would be in even worse shape right now.
I think you can kiss the hardcore socially conservative republican goodbye from the white house. Younger generations are just too liberal when it comes to those issues. Bush will have been the last
Agreed. The GOP is going to have some serious soul searching to do after this one.
I know it's an unpopular opinion but I like the two party system more than any singular party. The system itself isn't perfect but it works. When one side gains an advantage, the other side is forced to conform more to popular opinion to make up the ground. And then that process is repeated forever by each side to ensure they can appeal to ~50% of the population. Again, far from perfect and it makes progress extremely slow ... but it works.

One problem: we don't have a two party system... we have the left branch of the Statists and the right branch of the Statists...

Except its not just one election. Its now multiple nation wide elections which are each comprised of 50 smaller state wide elections. Stats? You can't even count. Tell me again about turnout?
To show that his odds we're close, you'd have to run multiple elections.

You can insult me if you want, but you are a recent grad and I've been doing this stuff for over 20 years.
