While Bynum does take games off, he is more of a dominating force (when he's right) in the paint than Dwight. Dwight can be easily shut down/frustrated.
So can Bynum, you just have to double him and he will take a bad shot most of the time. He refuses to pass out of doubles a lot. Don't even have to get into how easily frustrated he can be

Did Howard get 2 coaches fired in a 6 month span?

Exactly my point. Bynum can be a dominant force like Shaq. So trading Bynum for Howard is a lateral move at best.

It's not all about numbers. It's about the impact you have on the game. Bynum makes more of an impact.

He's safe for now, but his 41% shooting will take notice soon.

When was Bynum ever a a dominating force? He had maybe a hand full of games where he looked good but he's never been the one number option like Howard and has even shut down by simply fronting him. Howard may not have the offense repertoire than Bynum has but he is still better than Bynum.

For the Lakers, I think its Phil or bust. To abandon everything you worked for the past 8 weeks is kind of risky and not to mention Kobe/Nash still have to gel because those pieces don't fit perfectly. IMO only Phil can bridge this gap.

I'm interested to hear your take on how that is because of Dwight Howard.

In a way, he's partly to blame. If you watch the Lakers games, Howard, while effective, is a pace killer. He's dominant on offense (more than Bynum), but the ball a lot of times stops in his hands and nothing else happens. His freebie woes also kill some of that effectiveness.

I would argue, however, that the biggest disappointment has been on the defensive side. He's supposed to be a dominant defensive guy that should be the anchor on the back, but it just hasn't happened with the Lakers. This team gets scored on like crazy. Can't pin all of that on Howard, because the perimeter defense has been abysmal, but inside he hasn't been as effective as he's been in Orlando either.

Of course he has part of the blame because he is part of the team that is to blame. Lakers struggles have to do with not getting back on defense, running a ty offense and insane amount of turnovers. However I was responding in context to the quotes below. Can't say the Lakers record is due to Bynum being the better player.

Dwight has played 6 games since his surgery. Can't really expect him to have his legs back and be the same dominant defensive force he was that quick.

Dwight is better athletically, but he's been in the league too long to still look robotic in the paint.

Yet he still better than Bynum. Not long ago you thought the Rockets would Dwight and were praising him to be the best center in the league. Don't be bitter.

Dwight has only been in the league one year longer than Bynum...

True. Because the Rockets were before Harden and with him now with a bunch of scrubs, so yeah Dwight would immediately make them better. Like I said before, he is the best center in the game, at the same time you have to look at the center position of today's game and see how it has changed fundamentally from the past. You have Dwight, Bynum, then a dramatic dropoff.

This is the only point I was trying to make. The Bynum is better than Howard take is a joke.
