Ted Ginn's injury really hurt the Buckeyes that night. And there were things going on in that locker room before the game that were not conducive to that team coming out ready to play. (Lots of rumors surrounding Troy Smith, Anthony Gonzales and Gonzales's girlfriend.) Smith was also fat and out of shape from a month on the banquet circuit.
Really though, that was just a bad matchup especially between Ohio State's OL and Florida's DL. Florida's ends had a field day that game.

From a query to the Quest for Reflected Glory Dept.: yes, Oregon State hoops fans did chant "Johnny Football" at MSG last night. #Alabama

Awesome.
I agree.
I don't really disagree with anything in this post, except saying OU would have beaten Florida. The forgotten factor about those UM Florida teams were that they were very, very good (top 10) on defense as well as being offensive juggernauts. Nobody paid any attention to them, though, because of Teabag
The other factor in the SEC, IMO, is lack of quality quarterback play on the best teams. Alabama is an anomaly, and can rely on their defense and a game manager, but you see what happens to LSU/Florida/South Carolina when they don't have a stud. Georgia is a bizarre case, even though they probably have the best QB in the SEC outside of Manziel. Incredibly inconsistent. You just never know which team is going to show up, on either side of the ball. And holy , if the Bammers find a special QB you can forget about it, they'll be as close to unbeatable as a team can be.
Offensive schemes also lag behind other conferences. This has been apparent this season far more than in the past.
If any of those squads had a Manziel/Kline type of guy, with those impossible to develop intangibles, they would be dominant.
I think you'll start to see more teams in the conference shift (back AU/UF e.g.) toward the spread. Especially since it's the Kryptonite to Saban's superman. I doubt Spurrier would go that route, but I can definitely see Les Miles and Muschamp hiring a spread OC in the future
And, fwiw, imho, if A&M can conjure up a more solid defense, they'll have to be a favorite for the Natty next year
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-...66--ncaaf.html"He's a compe or. He's a playmaker. He just finds ways to get things done. You have to tip your hat to their coaches and coordinators," Tebow said. "They have an awesome scheme and a lot of great playmakers.
"There's just something about him that you think he has a chance. I like his swag. It's fun to watch."
In some ways, the schedule has played to Manziell's favor. If he had this game against Bama earlier, it would have put him at or near #1 on the list, but if he had the LSU game after that, it would have knocked him off altogether.
Ultimately, I think laying the dud in the second biggest game of Aggie's season - a game that was very winnable with a better QB performance - will prove to be too much for him overcome. Favorite for the Heisman in 2013.
I don't agree with this at all. We'll see what happens though, still season to play.
And while he did turn the ball over and make some freshman mistakes, he still put up the most yards on that LSU defense then anyone else has this season. Also, the game was winnable if we had a FG kicker. A missed PAT and two missed field goals did us in that game, not QB play.
I think if it were to happen, you would see Klein struggle vs that LSU defense as well. K State won't play anything close to a D like that and Klein for damn sure wouldn't put up 345 yards of offense vs Alabama with 2 TD's and 0 turnovers.
The highest rated defense K-State has played this season is Texas Tech, who has given up 34 pts to Kansas, 31 to Texas, 41 to OU, and 36 to TCU. AND Manziel has managed to put up 1,000+ more yards up than Klein. lmao please

lol at Tebow using the word swag
And there is no reason why anyone should think Klein has had a better season than Johnny Football. Using the LSU game or the 2nd half of the Florida game as the main argument is stupid...Klein hasnt faced a defense anywhere near as good as Bamas, LSUs, or Floridas. Yet Manziel still has better numbers by an overwhelming margin. Unless they inexplicably lose to Mizzou it would be a travesty to not give him the Heisman.

did he attempt a extra point?
yahoo boxscore:
(Johnny Manziel missed PAT)
Twitter is blowing up saying it was a classless move...
it's not like A&M has a great kicker. My brother who is an alum, said supposedly they have a back up kicker that is really good but never used.
Johnny is an arrogant guy, wouldn't surprise me if he asked to kick a pat. It would surprise me that a coach would let him.
Yeah, he attempted an extra point; I thought it was kinda funny, and seriously, he probably had a better shot at making it than our normal kicker. I think we'd have beaten LSU with an average kicker.
Apparently he was hitting a few in practice so Sumlin let him have a shot. Sumlin's quote was "It's a long season so you have to let the guys have some fun" or something to that degree.
Anyone still think somebody other than Manziel deserves the Heisman? Honest question...
