I would imagine that if Garnett did somehow end up with the Knicks Marbury would be part of the deal

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Stephon Marbury played 2 1/2 seasons with Kevin Garnett and knows as well as anyone how good the Timberwolves forward is. So, if Garnett ever becomes available for a trade, Marbury wants Knicks GM Isiah Thomas to inquire about arranging a reunion between the two stars.
"Absolutely," Marbury said before last night's 108-95 loss to the Bobcats. "That's a no-brainer. If they were going to trade him, why wouldn't we look into it?"
There have been rumblings that Garnett could be on his way out of Minnesota. But T'wolves owner Glen Taylor squashed the speculation Tuesday when he told The Minneapolis Star-Tribune he won't trade Garnett.
"I can tell you, definitely, we are not trading KG," Taylor said.
But if Garnett really wants out, he could try to force a trade, which is why nothing can be ruled out. And, as Marbury points out, it would be a good way for the Wolves to rebuild.
"If they want a new start, they're going to have to trade him," he said. "If you don't start over, you can't rebuild, and they've got to rebuild. If they're going to do it, this is the time to do it. They aren't going to be able to start over with him being there for the duration, because they won't be able to get anybody."

The Timberwolves have no interest in a PG who's going to make around 50 million over the next three years. They'd certainly have interest in the expiring contracts of Penny and Davis, along with Frye and several picks for Garnett and a bad contract.
They aren't getting a star, but as Denver and Phoenix have shown, that's sometimes the best way to go. Just clear salary and stock up on picks.
Marbury once compared Garnett to Mario Elie, when he said that Amare was like Michael Jordan to Garnett's Elie of the prep-to-pro players.
Would be interesting to see, considering their split, that comment and each need to be the unquestioned leader.
true but I would imagine the knicks would first liek to see if they can get rid of Marbury before they try to trade off any other players
For as bad as the Knicks have been with Marbury, he's a big sell in New York. He puts butts in the seats. Money is no object for the Knicks, so Marbury and Garnett making 45 million a season isn't any worry.
Then it all comes down to how much Thomas is willing to listen to listen to Larry Brown, because I had always assumed they'd try to trade Marbury because of Larry.
I love this guy, when he was in Minnesota he could not wait to get away from Kg because he was jeoulous of his contract and wanted to get paid. All these years later he wants him back.
If KG is that good, they could build around him. Rebuilding shouldn't always require demolition. They just need to figure out what the they are trying to create.
