Awesome name.
I like Echols-Luper and Adeboyejo but this WR class is pretty set as is. I never like to see de-commitments and who knows what's going on behind the scenes with the #s crunch but if this somehow opens up the doors for a flip commitment from Hall or Prevot (who are both planning to visit) then I'm all for it.
Just a reminder that we're in the middle of the final dead period so that's why recruiting news is lacking. It began on the Monday the 7th and will end tomorrow night.
Clemson QB Tajh Boyd returning to school:

Mikefinger Lawyer for Jordan Hicks releases statement saying SAPD told him "no charges will be brought against Hicks or anyone else in this matter."
Mikefinger Lawyer's statement also said Hicks will be returning to UT after holiday break.
Mack better let Wylie rip him a new one. Hoping Case calls it quits.
Pretty interesting comparison:
It's unreal the similarities betweeen Mack's first year at Texas and Sumlin's first year at Texas A&M.
To start, they both coached heisman trophy winners. Both those players went on to set conference rushing records. They both beat OU by 4 TD's in the Cotton Bowl. In addition, they both snapped the longest current home winning streak that year with Texas winning at Nebraska and A&M winning at #1 Alabama (yes I will give you more credit for that win than ours). Then to top it all off, they both won in the cotton bowl classic against former conference coaching foes with Texas beating cheating Jackie Sherrill (former coach at Texas A&M in the 80's for all you kids born in the 90's) and Texas A&M beating Bob Stoops.
To end it all off, Sumlin will probably have a top 5 recruiting class and Texas ended the year in recruiting with a top 5 class. I just hope for Aggieland's sake in that class they don't get the second coming of Chris Simms.
If Sumlin and A&M are here to stay recruiting wise, and all signs point to yes on that, then UT will still get theirs for the most part. It's OU,LSU, and so on that will be really hurt.
There's nothing wrong about getting Chris Simms. Now that I look back to those days, I wish that we had a QB that almost takes us to the national championship. What you don't want to have is a Garrett Gilbert.
I agree that Texas will still get theirs. It's more about who can evaluate talent better since there is so much talent in this state.
That's for damn sure.
Simms wasn't a bad QB
He was only disappointing when compared to the hype he had coming in. He couldn't beat Oklahoma and had a .500 winning record in bowl games. He did beat LSU and Nick Saban in his last game. Every year he was at Texas he got better and better, by his senior year, he was a very solid QB.
I don't care what he did as a pro, he showed real heart and took way too much blame for our struggles against Oklahoma.

Larry Porter is scheduled to visit RB Alex Collins of Plantation, FL tomorrow, per 24/7. It sounds like Porter called Collins' high school coach and Collins called back to show his interest so that's how everything got set up. Collins is currently ranked #115 by Rivals and #17 by 24/7. He's taken three official visits so far and has his remaining two already scheduled, but that could change if he likes what Texas has to say.

HOLY S***!! Collins is my favorite RB in this years class, and were actually happy that he went to Miami, where he would actually get the ball, which I don't think he would at Florida. If Porter, somehow, manage to get Collins (even though I think it highly unlikely), he is the recruiter of this decade to. Period!
Rivals reporting that OL Rami Hammad (or his high school coach) is supposed to hear from Alabama and Texas today on potential offers.
2014 OL Braden Smith of Olathe, KS told 24/7 last weekend that Oklahoma and Texas are recruiting him the hardest right now. Most analysts are projecting him at guard on the college level.
It should be a fun month until National Signing Day now that Porter has joined the staff. I'm excited to see what kind of damage he can do with the 2014 class and Junior Days right around the corner. He'll most likely be placed in Houston and the Golden Triangle in order to counter A&M's momentum.
Update on 2014 CB/S Tony Brown of Beaumont Ozen (OrangeBloods)...he's planning on attending Junior Days at both Alabama and Ohio State so that his mother can see those campuses. No word on his plans with A&M, Texas, etc. His track star sister, Bealoved, has narrowed her choices down to A&M and LSU. The recent scandal with UT's track program and Bev Kearney obviously didn't help things.
New offer out per 24/7. Texas has reached out to WR Cameron Echols-Luper of Auburn, AL since he de-committed from A&M. This is not a huge surprise as UT has been looking for their speedy WR for a very long time now. Echols-Luper is one of the fastest guys in the 2013 class with a 10.4 100m and a 21.0 200m. He said that Darrell Wyatt offered last night and he's looking into a January 18th visit to Austin.

A lot of rumors that this is more of a "I'm done playing at OU" rather than a high potential of being drafted. Bad blood, apparently.
