He has a reliable outside shot too, right?
Yep. He was a good compliment to Duncan. The biggest problem with him was lack of aggression. They used to do dunk drills with him to try to get him to be more assertive offensively. He was a very courageous defender, but not so much when it came time to score.

Mario Ellie, Jarren Jackson, RMJ all fall into the same category for be: they were borderline unbearable to watch, but only AFTER they got their big contracts.

Looking back, it's amazing how little talent, relatively, that you needed to have on your team back then in order to win a championship. It used to be where all you needed was a star and someone to dish the ball to him. Now you've gotta have at least a big three, plus some solid front court depth, plus a PF who can shoot threes, plus a bench that could start anywhere else. And that's just to get into the picture of contenting teams.

While my gut says Cherokee Parks, that's defining "worst" as sleezeball.
    The stats say Irv Kiffin.
Kiffin was bad...a blip on the screen. I'd probably go with Chris Welp or Ike Diogu. I could not, in good conscience, vote for Mengke Bateer. Jimmy Chang, his better half, was too important to the success of the team that year. They were a package deal. Nope, I'm sorry. I'll never speak poorly of Mengke "Concrete Overshoes" Bateer.

Plus, I think Bateer most certainly must've increased the sales numbers for British Knights in Mongolia.

Of course, I jest. I cheered for Mengke and loved having him and Jimmy on the team. Whether the least productive Spurs' player was Welp, Diogu, Cory Crowder or whomever...they at least got to the NBA. That's something most people here, including me, would love to do but would never get a snif.

You have to go to the mid to late 80s during the post Gervin/pre Robinson era, aka the Dark Ages, to find players like the hirsute Kurt Nimphius...clearly the worst Spur of all time.

I forgot Diogu even played for the Spurs. I also remember Austin Croshere was a Spur for about 3 games.

    Shane Heal.

Hands down, worst player to ever play for the spurs. He was useless in the NBL, and somehow he got a contract with the Spurs.
    This was ing good though:

    Hits 8 threes I think

In comparison to expectations coming in and cost:

    Richard Jefferson
    Charles Smith
    Nick Van Exel
    Lloyd Daniels
    JR Reid

Special shout out to Jerry Tarkanian for being the worst coach in his brief stint here.

I don't really count guys like Bateer who didn't play. Off the top of my head I'll say Udoka.

For Charles Smith- Was it the 6'10 inch PF that used to give DRob matchup issues when he was a Clipper?
Or was it Charles Spider Smith, the 6'5 inch wing who supposedly had necrosis of the hip and got sent to Europe?

There is a reason that Baseline Bum came up with the name HITA for Steve Smith.

The Spurs have a pretty good record in finding useful players in various European leagues, but Marcus Haislip was just horrible.

I remember someone starting a thread saying Haislip was the next Rasheed Wallace.

For me, it was Charles Smith the PF...when we picked him up I thought we had finally given Robinson his first real running mate in the front court since pre-injury TC...he ended up being awful.
