Great owner. Cool guy, world class pun hound, accomplished poker player, business man and one of the best owner in all of pro sports.

This year like I said ... cursed. Sad he had to go with his team under .500 he deserves better.
^ let me drop some wisdom in a rare moment of candor and sympathy from Kool....I know you mean well but you're wrong...given the context... the game of life is much more important than being above .500....and Kobe and the players visiting him in his final days I'm 100% certain means much more than a stat it..sitting and talking to him as a player as a person he knows that brought him many years of pleasure means the world....there's an old cliche about life that my father shared with me years ago....The beginning is scary, the ending is usually sad, but the middle is what counts." When a person is dying they look back on the "middle" of what they accomplished in life..and when he looked back he saw - 10 les as owner of arguably the greatest sports team in history

Not to mention, once the estate tax kicks in, the Lakers will probably be ed financially for a long time...

Sad day for the league. At least Dr. Buss had an incredible ride on his short time on Earth. We should all be so lucky.

I get that ...and I think the words you shared are wise. But doesnt change the fact Buss deserved better. Even if he was not running the day-to-day, and sure we had plenty of injuries ... but this still sucks that he footed the bill for an expensive roster and they played like crap. I hope if they do something before the game for Buss there is NO WAY this Laker team can allow Boston to come in to Jerry's home and beat us this week. IF Dwight Howard has any real compe ive fire he will meet this challenge because Im sure Kobe will ... it would also help IF MWP could play Pierce liek he did in 2010 ... last game he gave us nothing ...

But back to the point I wouldnt say it's like losing an uncle but like losing a parent of one of your good friends ... they welcomed you to their home, fed you some meals and maybe eeven took you to a game or a movie and now they are gone. Tough year in Lakerland ...

Jerry Buss, longtime owner of the Los Angeles Lakers, has passed away at the age of 80.

Buss had been hospitalized with an undiagnosed form of cancer.

Buss purchased the Lakers from Jack Kent Cooke in 1979.

Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O'Neal and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar each visited Buss during his final days.

+1 on Mono and at jeebus..

dying a happy man after witnessing Kobe block Lebron

Kobe rewarding the man that blessed him with perennial luxury tax teams by making him watch a non-playoff team during his last season on Earth

Lakers getting blown out are the last games that Buss watched

watching your son failing at owning a team during your last days

his last thought was probably realizing he paid 30 million this year for an ASG block

that cancer didn't pay for the basketball reasons

Sad year in Lakerland. Awful news, however he led a full life and brought joy to Laker fans by making ballsy decisions put the Lakers on top of the mountain.
