IIRC Tony leads the team in FTAs per game at around 5... to put that into perspective, Danilo Gallinari draws around 5 FTAs per game too, and he's not even an All-Star this season.

They are but get no respect
they also create wide open looks over playing Denver style monkeyball aka "just attack" as George Karl says
Parker should be near the top of the league in FTA and Splitter should also get way more, too many times guys are going for piggyback rides and its a no call

Ginobili who is our best foul drawer also takes it easier in the reg season where 50% of his shots consist of 3s
in the playoffs probably attack more

    a) The Spurs are the most league-hated team in the NBA
    b) The Spurs don't draw many cheap fouls (think LAC/OKC)
    c) The Spurs' best attackers aren't penetrating as much because they're older and Pop wants them healthy for the playoffs

We honestly don't have many players that drive to the hole outside of Tony. Manu does sometimes when he actually plays, but not nearly as much as he used to, and for good reason. Kawhi is starting to attack more which is good. But overall, we're not an aggressive offense outside of Tony, we're just really smart and great at moving the ball. It's as simple as that.

Starters play less minutes than most other starting teams.

Pop camps Leonard in the corner far too much.

    "Three point specialist" shooters.

Spurs lack "nuthugging" mass market appeal per the usual.

Truth be told, I am happy that Tiago is getting to the line more this year. With Timmy playing at a higher level, the frontcourt is drawing more fouls. Due to Manu's injuries and aging, TP is the only backcourt player that gets to the line on a regular basis.

Because they don't rely on iso's and driving the ball into traffic. They have an actual offensive system, where they prefer to make the extra pass and get the open shot.

That's so very noble and pure, but driving into traffic & drawing fouls is a necessary component to NBA championship basketball IMO.

Well they get to the line sometimes by doing that. It's just not as much a part of their offense as teams with superstars or who rely on iso's more.

And because Spurs are persecuted by the NBA

I do like how Tony's far more aggressive over the RRT. IIRC he's now averaging around ~8 FTAs on the RRT.

The Spurs aren't actually that bad overall. They are ranked 16th in the league at 0.205 FT/FGA (above the league average of 0.204). They also do quite a bit of motion offense which leads to open shots as opposed to fouls.

The interesting part is where OKC stands. Not only are they ranked #1 in FT/FGA (expected), they are leading it by a HUGE margin. OKC shoots 0.282 FT/FGA, whereas the Bobcats, sitting at #2, shoots 0.237 FT/FGA, that is a difference of 0.045 FT/FGA. Putting that into perspective, that is more than the difference between #2 ranked Bobcats and #23 ranked NYK (0.194)
