I think that if the Spurs get Re , it will be because they consider him an upgrade over Green and would try to include Green in the deal.

why would you play a three guard lineup when you have jackson?
I wouldn't. I also wouldn't trade for Re . I'm just saying that that could be a reason to do it.

In any event, Re would take some assets to obtain. I don't even see where he fits, but less how he could improve the team enough to make the trade worthwhile.

what is the possibility of jackson being traded?
Do you want odds or what? I don't think anybody here really has that answer.

I'd probably cry if Buckets gets moved, unless we got someone better.

Anyone comfortable with him getting moved should think back to our game 6 with OKC last year. The guy would have hit 20 threes if we'd let him shoot more. The guy is nails.

If we're going to ride Bonner into the sunset of the TD Era, then Popdamnit, Buckets needs to be on that court to help Tim go out guns ablazing.

He might not be playing well this season but who knows in the playoffs, besides I can not think of a player that the spurs can get thru trade with his contract that is willing to play in san antonio.

11:24 a.m.: Spurs legitimately in on Re

Several teams are chasing Magic sharpshooter J.J. Re , but the Spurs could be emerging as a serious threat to land him, says Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski.

    Adrian Wojnarowski ✔ @WojYahooNBA

I discounted San Antonio-Re talks a bit earlier, but sources insisting there are legitimate scenarios in play that make Spurs a factor.

    Rob Mahoney’s take:

The Spurs don’t have any pressing need for another perimeter shooter, but why miss out on a viable fit who is very much attainable? J.J. Re , Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green would set up the Spurs with a fantastic core of role players to rotate in alongside Tony Parker, Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili, and the acquisition of Re ’s Bird rights would give San Antonio a good shot at re-signing him for the long haul. San Antonio is still an unlikely landing spot given the poor value of their first-round pick and minimal trade assets, but the team would be a great fit for Re .

The more I think, the less I believe Re in SA

It simply makes no sense. The only thing that makes some sense in my mind would be San Antonio involved as a 3rd team. Milwaukee is interested in Re , but Orlando doesn't want Moute because of his long-term contract. Something like Re going to Milwaukee, Moute going to SA, and Blair + Bonner + SAS 1st going to Orlando.

Jax's injury has affected him quite a bit, prticularly in shooting the three. By playoff time, he will be hitting that shot. There is no way Jax is going anywhere. His expiring contract is much too valuable to the Spurs, and with his family issues, the Spurs just will not send him away.

Yeah I don't think POP would make him leave after all he's been through...

Even if it's just a rental, I'm all for giving away a first for Re . At this point the Spurs are almost certainly at their last championship opportunity. Might as well push the chips into the table and see what happens.

What are we talking about needing to do to get Red ? Don't we need to give up a player as we already have 15 players signed? Don't we have to trade a player and a pick? If so, I guess we'd trade Neal as he is expiring contract and basically the same type of player as Red . Other than that, I think we say no.

Ouch!. But that won't happen. There is not even enough time to explore a Kobe trade, especially with his no-trade clause. Same with trading Howard. And why risk trading Kobe unless Howard has signed an extension?

Yeah, I think they're referring to an end of the season scenario:

If Lakers keep Dwight Howard, he can force them to choose "Kobe or Dwight?"

why neal if we have blair?

I thinkwe are fine with the team we have. Especially is none of the other contenders do a trade that makes them better. I am of the opinion that the Spurs should keep Blair because we have an old Tim Duncan and an injury-prone Splitter (maybe that's not quite fair as he's been healthy all year, but he has had injury issues in the past). Baynes is not near as skilled or reliable as Blair. And we all know Bonner and the playoffs. I wouldn't get rid of any bigs unless we had a quality backup in the bag.

Neal is the same as Red . Maybe Red is a better shooter, at least this year. So that's the only trade I'd do. Plus Neal would love the opportunity to outright chuck the last half of the season in Orlando.
