Source: Atlanta Hawks blow up deal at last minute that would've sent Josh Smith to Milwaukee. Hawks would've re-
ceived Ekpe Udoh, Luc Mbah-Moute, Beno Udrih and a protected No. 1 pick. Can't imagine the Bucks are happy having invested so much time in trying to make it happen. Leaves big question now if Hawks can do better this summer.

Why would the Hawks not take this deal instead of letting him walk?? Danny Ferry, we taught you better than this.

Oh well. I'm glad the Spurs didn't give away Blair for nothing. He has more value than a salary dump or a late second rounder.

Even one great stretch in the playoffs in one game > late second round pick

Not sure why you think it's funny. He's played the two plenty in his career, and he did it while Manu was out.
Diaw played the 3 this season, too. That's what non-starter-caliber players do when the starter-caliber players are out.

Just to be clear, Jack used to be an effective two-guard. He just isn't good (read: fast) enough to start there now.

Alex Kennedy ‏@AlexKennedyNBA The New York Knicks have traded Ronnie Brewer to the Oklahoma City Thunder for a second-round pick. Brewer was just informed of the deal.

Well, you know the effort will be there because he's playing for a new contract, especially knowing that he's going to have to do something as a Spur.

It was very surprising that all Dallas did, was switch scrubby SG's. I thought Cubes was going to go all out.

Can they trade his bird rights this summer so he can get a max or a sign and trade? Big question is whether there is a team in the league that would offer him the max. Probably not.

He's got no assets to get a trade other than Dirk.

Ronnie Brewer hit a few fluke shots against the Spurs this season. He's actually pretty damn meh. His three-point range is iffy at best, his individual D isn't special and he has bad handles. All in all, if Brewer is on the court for the Thunder, that's a huge downgrade over anyone currently in their rotation.

    Non-issue, tbh.

Um, the past several years of the playoffs have shown us that Pop gets to the playoffs and think these guys are the answer come crunch time. And they've repeatedly failed, but he keeps squinting at Bonner and thinking it's a slightly less tan version of Robert Horry running around out there.

    That's what.
We'll see. What you're saying is true, the difference is those two guys are playing a lot less than in years past. Neither gets consistent minutes or are regular rotation players. I get your skepticism, but based on the roster and rotations this season, I'm not all that concerned. They are bench depth. Valuable bench depth at that.

I imagine the Thunder's acquisition of Brewer is a desparate attempt to shore up their diminishing perimeter defense.

I hope OKC trots out Brewer in the playoffs. Sag off him and focus on the stars. OKC brought in shooters like Cook last year who hit big shots because we left him open. Brewer can't shoot for . Not worried about his D.

Some small trades or still trickling in. We should probably wait another ~30 minutes before being 100% confidence the Spurs didn't make a trade.

Well, didn't someone say that the framework has to be submitted by the deadline? Whether it happens or not, isn't restricted by the deadline? That doesn't really seem valid, but hey.. here's to hoping. We never really did hear anything about that Atlanta/SA deal with Blair.

Yep, Danny Green starts when the starter-caliber players come off the bench. Jack's in the rotation as a small forward. Doesn't change the fact that he's better at Green's position than Green is.

Given the propensity of scrubs to shoot lights out against us, I'm not so sure that's advisable...

Cook (last season) is a good shooter
Ibaka is a good midrange shooter. So is Collison.

Brewer would be the best option to leave open for the midrange jumper if anyone.
