    Anyone playing it?

I don't have it yet but I hear that the game sticks you in zones instead of the player having the whole map to himself. The zones are different in size but you're always going to be limited and can't expand outward like the other games. Also you need to have an always-on internet connection to play. Anyone who knows or playing confirm these things? Kind of sucks... almost to the point of being deal breakers for me.

nvm, it's getting blasted on Amazon

ing EA, they sure know how to screw things up. They totally NBA-Lived the out of this game. This pisses me off tbh. It's a game I was looking forward to since E3.

So EA puts out a game that has always-on DRM but the servers can't handle it since a lot of people are trying to connect in turn not allowing the players to play the game.

    Tons of pissed off people.

It should be called sim-village. Such a small area in which to play. No thanks

Cities XL isn't as good, but at least you can build something that's actually BIG

    you, EA

Still sounds better than every NBA Live since about 06 (really, 03 was the last good one though).

OK, not really. Forced online for a SP game ing blows. I absolutely refuse to ever buy a game that I won't be able to play a few years down the line. The only games I own that I don't bust out every once in a while are old NBA2k games, since 2k13 is a much better version of all the other 2k games I have (from 06 and on).

    holy

Is it true that you can't manually save? So if you're online and get disconnected due to the server overloads, you'll lose all progress and have to start all over?

    What a ing bomb.

I'm amazed how a company can be such a -up. They're going to milk this ing game with that DLC bull . "Expand your cities with this SimCity City Expander...for $30"

EA shuts down their servers within a year of the game release date.

They shut down the servers for Dead Space 2 almost as fast as they were up.

Most of their games have unnatainable trophies because they close their servers too fast. DS2 was the last game I ever bought or will ever buy from them.

    Very unethetical .

And yet people keep buying EA games. Apparently more than even EA expected since their servers can't handle it.

SimCity has a huge fan base, and doubtless many bought it off the name alone. I've had every one since the first, but there's no way i'm buying this garbage.

Never buying an EA game again. Absolute bull . Glad I caught word of all the negatives they're bringing to the SimCity franchise and stayed the away.

EA is a ing piece of company, tbh.... they've completely ruined Madden, SimCity, and NCAA Football, my three favorite series by far....

By the way, does anyone else think this DRM/DLC scam is going to lead to another video game industry crash like the '80s? I can't imagine people putting up with fundamentally flawed/incomplete les that require an Internet connection, can be shut off at any time, charge money for features that should have been included from the start, and essentially strip the customer of their right to own the product they just bought for much longer, tbh...

Not as long as dip customers keep buying the games.

That's my point.... chances are, even the dumbest lowest-common-denominator customers will eventually get tired of throwing away money to rent incomplete products that don't work.... when that happens, the industry is screwed, since DRM and DLC in every game (probably even console games soon) is where the industry's business model is currently headed, tbh....

I don't think so. Now if EA keeps buying everyone up and putting out complete crap it could happen.

    It doesn't really work.

Star Wars The old republic and DC Universe Online are prime examples. Those games are only online and you needed to buy a bogus monthy subscription to even play it.

They have since dropped that and you can now play it for "free."

Games that require you to be online at all times dont last long. Once the thrill of playing such game is gone so is the desire to pay for some idiotic monthly fee.

Weren't those MMOs though? MMOs have a reasonably justified cost per month because there is so much server demand. WoW and Eve Online have both made it work as well as a few others.

I was only just going to mention the DC Universe game because that one is also available for console.

I think the monthly sub for that game was something like 20 bucks a month.

PC only games make alot more sense with the online connectivity and subscriptions since you're pretty much on a computer so Internet Connection is par for the course . When you begin to apply all the going ons to a console it just falls flat.
