I have a 3D smart TV and don't use any of the features. Many of the apps have better interfaces on my XBOX so I just use that.

Just get a nice flat screen and spend $100 on a good Sony Blu-Ray DVD with DLNA. Works perfect for me...even has a browser.

If I purchase a movie to own streamed through Amazon on the smart TV, can I only watch it on this TV? Surely it's stored on a cloud, right?

I'm pretty sure the Amazon movie streaming is available on any device that can play Amazon content. The movie is definitely stored in their servers.

What ever device you have authorized on the Amazon site can access all content. Also, I think if you actually buy a movie, as opposed to renting, you can download it. My Blu-Ray has a USB port for an external hard-drive to store and stream downloaded content.. So does my router which I'm thinking of building a media server around.

Any streaming device yes, but not mobile devices. Unless you have a Kindle Fire, you can't stream on Android or iOS, although I heard that may change with iOS. I have two Kindle Fires, the first and HD, and I bought two movies on Amazon and downloaded to them. On long car trips, or when I need my kids to not fight with each other, I hand them a Kindle, put on a movie and tell them I need some quiet to do housework.

It's the only way I can keep them away from each other. My son loves to draw and my daughter will play with her toys. But eventually they start fighting. It's not if but when. But if Wreck it Ralph is on...

Back to OP, when I was visiting my friend in Phoenix, we used to app on his Smart TV. It mostly consisted of Netflix, but there are other apps I use on my 360. If you have a smart TV and no streamer, then by all means. But if you're looking for a TV, just get a regular flat panel, and buy a Blu Ray or media streamer and save some money.

A good ad blocker will take care of most of them. And the others are a simple click from being gone. No big deal.

Umm, you can stream Amazon Prime Instant Video from the iOS app, and it has Airplay built in and the HDMI out works great. I don't know if there is a fully functional Android App, but I believe you can just load it from Chrome in Android anyway.

I'm able to watch Netflix on my phone, so I'm not sure what you are talking about when you say you can't stream on a mobile device

Amazon doesn't stream on the Android app. I know that iOS was like that but heard that was changing. Guess I heard right. What I was referring to was you can't stream purchased content from Amazon. At least, I haven't found a way yet.

I wasn't talking about Netflix. I have the Netflix app on my phone and use it quite a bit.

I have one, I never use any of the internet/online/streaming features. The U/I is way to clunky and laggy, and I find the wireless internet adapter that came with it is subpar. Any streaming I need to do to my TV I use either my PS3 or Roku.
