Saying you are better than Manu though? Manu has done a lot for this franchise. It's kind of a slap in the face for Jack to say that about someone like Manu. Yeah, yeah Manu's been hurt most of the year but it's not like Jack was filling in his role.
Wait, what happened? Did Jack say something about Manu?

I told you. As long as Bonner is on this team, he is gonna play. He is Pops heroine.

edit: and I know this has nothing to do with jax, but it just never fails that Bonner gets minutes in the playoffs

Yeah, Jack wasn't in the right either. Still, we need role players stepping up, not being told they're nothing more than spare parts.
Unless you're name is Matt Bonner you're not safe on this roster.

Could be total BS, but apparently Jack said he's better than Manu and Green.

ksat's facebook posted the news, and in the comments, someone wrote "Pop asked, Jackson if, he thought if, he was better than Manu & Danny Green? He said, " yeah" Pop told him, "that's your problem, you don't know your role". Then they got into a heated argument." that person was asked how they knew this, and she wrote that her son was at the barbershop, and overheard Jackson say that. ...........take it for what it's worth
    Oh, missed this post. Interesting.

Spurs Place Stephen Jackson on Waivers
    April 12, 2013
SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Spurs today announced that they have placed forward Stephen Jackson on waivers.

A 13-year NBA veteran, Jackson has appeared in 849 career games, averaging 15.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.30 steals in 32.1 minutes.

I'm not talking about it as just Jack being waived (Spurs could and would win without him), but the underlining meaning behind it and all the other things piling up. Morale is in the ter now, everyone is banged up, and the team has no rhythm. Jack was having a bad year, but he was still a veteran who brought mental and physical toughness, which the team needs desperately.
You could also argue that the morale is actually better now; Spurs players are not the type to display the alleged actions, Jackson did. HE GONE!

And the Knicks just waived Kurt Thomas

We cannot sign a player for the playoffs if he was waived after March 1

God, what a depressing end of the season this has been. Not even the Lakers possibly missing the playoffs will lift my spirits. Would definitely help tho...

Could Singleton be the guy? He was reportedly signing with the Knicks as of yesterday, but I don't think it was made official and now today I see they've signed Jones.
Maybe but the rumored reason why the haven't signed Singleton was that they couldn't get a letter of clearance from his Chinese team. Singleton is also more a 4 than a 3.

I garantee he signs with the Thunder next year, he recorded a song with KD a while ago.

With Sefolosha and Sjax they will have incredible defense and clutch 3 point shooting.

Well there goes the 4 replacement for Diaw. Who knows if Diaw will even be effective if he gets back.

I just hate to see it end like this. You almost felt like with the second stint Jack would go out in a blaze of glory in the playoffs. Seeing him waived before just before the playoffs is like least likely scenario. I'm just shocked.

What's the tax situation looking like? With the Baynes signing, aren't we right up against the tax line? Won't this impede the ability to sign anyone? And please no emo responses ("oh who cares, we won't win a game in the playoffs anyway").

Question will come down to the costs associated with going over the tax line vs. the benefit (additional home playoff games).

Seeing a veteran whose pretty popular with his teammates let go before a potential deep playoff run would kill anyone's morale tbh...

At this point, I would rather use Jack's spot to sign a big since that is more needed know with Diaw being out for a while.

Kawhi can handle the bulk of the minutes and maybe have Manu play the 3 so that Neal isn't at PG in any scenario.

    And Jack.

When you are paid $10M per year and are one the worst player in the league, you don't about your role. This event really tarnish what he did in 03'.

If I recall correctly, Jax cannot be signed by another team to play in the Playoffs, correct?

Yes and even though Jack has an at ude, he has that swagger the Spurs have lacked since Bowen/Horry left. Without him, they become more vulnerable. Hopefully Splitter and Green grow some balls for the playoffs.

    Random thoughts:

-Jack has been terrible offensively this season. I gave him the benefit of the doubt to begin the year but his recent struggles made me think he was more "done" than "coasting".

-As bad as he is on O, he was still easily the second best defensive small forward on the team. His physicality and toughness made him a legit small ball PF candidate. With Diaw out into the playoffs and Blonnair the other option, having Jack around would have been good depth, IMO.

-With Ginobili out and Leonard gimpy, Jack would have been decent insurance on the wing, too.

-If you've listened to any of his interviews, it's been obvious that he wasn't happy with his role. I thought it was more a I'm-not-happy-but-I'll-keep-trying-for-the-betterment-of-the-team type of situation ... but apparently it was more serious than that.

-This has to be the most shocking April related transaction since the Spurs signed Glenn Robinson.

-I don't care if the Spurs replace Jack or who that player is. It's too late to work someone into the rotation -- even as depth. If the roster spot is filled, the player will be at the very end of the bench. It matters zero.

-I want to trust Pop's judgement ... but, damn, it's difficult. As depth, Jack had some value. He had some more value because there was a possibility he could play better in the postseason. Further, with everyone dropping like flies, it's dangerous to just kick someone to the curb.

-Taking a glass half full view, maybe this helps galvanize the Spurs. Something has been a little "off" since Ginobili missed that free throw and the Suns beat the Spurs in overtime. I couldn't put my finger on it (other than injuries, obviously) but maybe there was a Jackson-related distraction that was taking away from the usual impeccable chemistry.

-Leonard has been able to play the entire second halves of big games ... which is even more notable now with Jackson gone. Come the playoffs, don't be surprised if Leonard averaged 40 MPG.

-Hopefully there's not a negative backlash. Jack, even through his antics over the years, is regarded as the ultimate teammate. Adding depression on top of injuries could be dangerous.

    Wow..........
