1st off I'm mad, depressed, sad, zoned out, bummed etc.... with what happened to KB. The team has to keep playing through this starting Sun. That being said, how deadly can our starting 5 be knowing there will be crazy ball movement going on between Pau, Dwight, Nash, MWP. I need to think of something else to keep my ass from crying to sleep!

Lakers can still be a solid team, and as a Spurs fan, I still don't want them in the first round. Kobe was never my concern. I don't like the idea of Duncan/Splitter vs. Dwight/Gasol. Duncan's been fantastic this year, but he's too old to perform at a high level over a playoff series against those two. Splitter's been solid, but I'd expect him to get thoroughly dominated on the boards and in quick foul trouble. Clark matches up well with Leonard. And Artest would make Green his pants. And with the injuries to Manu and Diaw and the release of Jackson, our once vaunted depth is now thin. Our only matchup advantage is Tony Parker, and given his penchant for choking, I'm not too confident in his ability to have a breakout series.

I dunno, midnightpulp. This is a 'Antoni team, not Phil Jackson's Lakers that mentally knew they could outplay every team in the league.

I'm a grown man, over 30 years old. Been watching Kobe for nearly 15 years. I woke up early this morning in shock. I went back to sleep, and when I woke up again, it sunk it. I wasn't dreaming. This man who I've looked up to for my entire adult life, the iron willed sensation, the indomitable champion, the age defying legend, is down and going under the knife for career ending surgery. And I don't need to imagine how that makes HIM feel because I can read about it on social media. It breaks my heart. He didn't deserve this. I wasn't ready to say goodbye yet ...

It was revenge for Katelyn Faber... and a lot of other things, and there was nothing we could do about it. Faber was a made woman and Kobe wasn't, and we had to sit and take it. Among the Laker gots, it was real . They even snapped Kobe's tendon, so his mother couldn't him on the way to the ho e.

You all know the story Kareem injuried himself in game 5 against the Sixers Lakers win the game. Magic steps in as a rookie game 6 and the rest is history. Does this story offer hope that the Lakers can pull off a miracle like this again?

Today, 13th of April, I woke up early in the morning to watch my Lakers give me a special present for my 28th birthday.

As it turned out, Kobe suffered a career changing injury and like most of you, this just broke my heart. It feels like rooting for the Lakers will never be the same. I know it's just sports and it's just an injury, but Kobe was part of my entire childhood, adolescence and early adulthood.

Since I'm living in Germany, getting up for Lakers games in the middle of the night (or early in the morning ) was/is part of my life since 1995. Watching games all by myself while a whole nation is asleep is such a beautiful thing. You just know Kobe will give his all and I could count on him to give me a good time, no matter when and where.

It just feels like life is gonna change from now on... I know the Lakers were still the Lakers after Magic retired, but Kobe was A ACCOMPANYING PART of basically all my memories. Though I somethimes was very harsh with him, you can't ask for more from a player playing for your favourite team.

Reading all these posts is like looking into a mirror!!!

I grew up watching Kobe grow from a kid to a man... This is a Facebook message I sent to Kobe when he joined FB last year:

    Kobe,

Just want to say me, my dad and my brother are huge fans of yours. We remember the afternoon in 1996 listening to the NBA draft when our Lakers traded Vlade away for a young gaurd out of High School via Philly. I was 13, my bro was 10, you were 17. We immediately identified with you out of all of the other players. Being lifelong Laker fans, we were excited about finally having a player with skills and potential comparable to our beloved Magic Johnson. The rest is history... The early years, those missed shots against The Jazz in the playoffs... 31 points in the rookie game... Becoming an Allstar and busting a one handed behind the back dribble and floater in the Allstar game... The 'Fro years... The Three-Peat with Phil, Shaq, Fish, Rob, Shaw and Foxy...15 threes in one game... The down years/dark years... Phil and Fish coming back.... 62 in 3.... 81 points in regulation...your first and only MVP (I can't believe you didn't get more) back to the Finals with Pau and Lamar 3 times..winning 2... And now getting Dwight rolling with you... So many memories!

We've seen every game that you've played, if not, seen highlights and box scores for all of your games since '96.

I turn 30 this October and you've just turned 34...(happy belated btw)..You've been in our lives as Laker fans for 17 years ... Over half my own life! We've all grown up together in a way and had many trials and tribulations... Successes and challenges.

I've never met you in person, but because we've seen so many of your games, we feel like we know you like you're a cousin... or somthing. I don't know if that makes any sense.

My point is, there's this connection me and my family have to you over your career and many of our great memories involve you and the Lakers.

We may never ever cross paths and meet in person... Everyone has to walk their own path... But with u becoming active on FB, it's feel the need to tell you all that ive just told you and most of all to say this:

Thank you for thoroughly entertaining us and for all the great moments my brother, father and I have had watching you create works of art on the hardwood. You will be remembered forever!

It's great to have the chance to tell you that after 17 years!

Best of luck this season and know that me and mine will be rooting for you to climb to the top of that mountain next June! God bless you and your family.

    Sincerely,

    Chris C.

That basically sums up the Kobe Bryant era for me. At the risk of sounding emo, the character of Kobe Bryant, the warrior, is imprinted on my heart... And his will is inspiring. I can't wait to see him lace them up once more... Even though there's a sinking feeling inside that says it won't happen. Only God knows.

Posted: Sat Apr 13, 2013 1:59 pm Post subject: Make a pledge in honor of Kobe...a pledge to yourself.

I have been depressed since last night. I know Kobe will work hard to return as soon as possible. I also know it is not going to be easy for him yet we have gotten so used to his way of being that we are all expecting him to wow us with his recovery and with his play when he returns.

I ask all of you, myself included, to make a pledge to work harder at something else in your own personal life WITHOUT letting any of the other positive aspects of your life suffer.

For me, I believe I am a good father, a faithful and loyal husband and I do my best to always do well at work. However, at times I cuss at my 15 year old son when he gives me at ude, I question my wife if guys are hitting on her at work (on a weekly basis I ask this and she gives me no reason to doubt her), and on top of all that I eat like crap and my weight is starting to creep up. I'm sure i have MANY more imperfections but those are the ones that I am most aware of.

That being said, starting today, and continuing for the 6-8 months it takes Kobe to recover; I am going to begin to eat healthier and start excercizing again. I am going to practice more patience with my oldest son, who is a good teenager just with a bit of an at ude (what did i expect, i raised him to think that Kobes at ude was key to being the best). I will also start to give my wife the trust she deserves and stop making her pay for my insecurities.

I will try to post periodic updates and I hope many of you will join me in here and bless us with your stories and efforts over the next year and a half.

So I will now start you guys off with my "stats" to see how well I can do. I am 32 years old, 5 ft 6 in tall, weigh 216.4 lbs and currently I can run only a mile ON A TREADMILL. The mile takes me 12 minutes and a bit of pain in the knees but I can get through it only because the treadmill is easier than pavement. I currently bench 225 lbs 5 times. Thats a bit low for me but it has been so long since i worked out consistently. 5 years ago I could bench 225 lbs 21 times and I was 16 lbs lighter, yet still a bit chubby back then.

The diet and trust will be my biggest issues. I hope to accomplish some success utilizing you guys as a support group and knowing that Kobe will probably still be outworking me.

Well thats it friends, I hope you all join in. I was as honest with you as I can be and I will be honest with my updates.

If he's 32 and has a 15 year old son that means he had him when he was 17 years old. Pretty old age for a mexican guy to start having kids tbh.

I would gladly eat crow if they rang but i was thinking about this Lakers team chances of reaching the Finals and beating the champs Miami when i made that post, not the asterisk on Kobe's ring.

I know he will get a ring as part of the team but will his critics give him credit in his MJ chase?
