hmmm... wonder if it will play in front of IMAX showings too. That would mean The Hobbit would have both the Man of Steel trailer plus the 9 minute Star Trek Into Darkness opening in front of it.

Yes I believe that's correct on Star Trek and MOS being in front of The Hobbit, but as far as on IMAX, dont know. I'm definitely going to make sure with my theater before I buy my ticket.
Man of Steel was supposed to open actually this month, but got pushed back to June because of The Hobbit. Would have been nice to see now as originally planned, but oh well.

u know with the reboots and , why not just extend the franchise by introducing other enemies and story plots then re-run the same old from the start?

This is a good point but the problem is the cast, not the plot. They just haven't found that Christian Bale type of actor yet.

The Kick Ass 2 trailer severely underwhelmed IMO. I am nervous about that.
I definitely want to see this Man of Steel. I agree I don't want to see overly dark superhero films, but Superman is always one that I felt could benefit from it.
Saw the trailer at imdb and I must say I am kind of skeptic on this one. Too many "superheroes."
It could become a real joke. Now everyone is some kind of masked hero/villain? I have my doubts.

I doubt it. He is listed in IMDB for that role.
Michael Shannon is in the full length trailer that came out before Christmas, so I don't think that's it at all. It's for the hype. The Man of Steel website went snowy like that 3 days ago..with hidden messages and stuff being revealed the past few days with a countdown to this particular teaser, Zods emblem being revealed at the very end before the "Zod announcement". I'm really digging this little teaser.

A whole new full length 3 minute trailer is rumored to be released at that time. From what I have read, Shannon is supposed to be all in it.
