That's the difference. Yes, there are people that commit mass murders, but they're ing insane; whereas muslims do it in the name of their religion.
Oh and I'm agnostic btw, in case you're wondering. I consider any type of religious extremism to be ing insane, but I'm not blind to the fact that islam in particular has breed a culture of hate against the West.

I'm not a big Bill Maher fan, but I think he hits the nail on the head when he says how ridiculous it is that the media is always tring to equate Islam and Christianity. His argument is basically that you could draw a really offensive picture of Jesus and very few Christians would think you deserved death for it, but that even moderate Muslims would say you had it coming to you if that offensive picture was of Muhammed (which is exactly the at ude the moderate Muslim leaders in Europe took at the cartoons in Denmark a few years ago). As much as I'm not a fan of Christianity, it's a false equivalence to just shrug things off and say every religion has its crazies.

Yo know, I don't know of any Hindu terraists. But Christian Iden y groups, abortion clinic bombers and arsonists, and the Jewish Defense League all did that stuff. One can argue proportions of populations, but these terraists have existed and do exist.

And there is absoultey no such thing as religious extremism, be it Christian, Muslim, Jews. Religious extremism is BS the weak of faith like to use to separate themselves from the misguided. It's either your doing it right or you're doing it wrong. Are you really that dense to not know why there is so many misguided Muslims? Afghanistan, Iraq, Ring any bell to you?
If you have any sort of grasp of history, this so called "hate" revloved around the soviets in the 70's-90's. Do I need to explain to you why? I would assume you're smart enough to know. The Crusades ring any bell? remember, when the "Muslims" started using weapons to Attack instead of defend about years after the fourth caliphate? yeah, you ended up with a bunch of misguided Chrisitans going "extreme".
The reality to to all of this goes back not to religion, but human emotion. If a group of people started droping bombs on America because they're suspect of weapons of mass destruction, I'd be surprised if it doesnt breed "hate" on this part of the world.
