It seems pretty obvious to me who is responsible here.

    The Associated Press
PHILADELPHIA -- A Philadelphia couple serving probation for the 2009 death of their toddler after they turned to prayer instead of a doctor could face new charges now that another of their children has died.
Herbert and Catherine Schaible belong to a fundamentalist Christian church that believes in faith healing.
Philadelphia Judge Benjamin Lerner said at a hearing they violated the most important condition of their probation: to seek medical care for their remaining children.
The Schaibles have yet to be charged in the death of the 8-month-old boy last week, after he suffered from diarrhea and breathing problems for days. Authorities are awaiting autopsy results.
Catherine Schaible's lawyer says the couple are good parents, and that they are deeply distraught over the loss of another child.

    Background information:

In Matthew 17:20 Jesus reiterates that same message:

For truly, I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mus seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.

Jesus says something similar in Matthew 21:21:

I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.

The message is reiterated Mark 11:24:

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

In John chapter 14, verses 12 through 14, Jesus tells all of us just how easy prayer can be:
"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son; if you ask anything in my name, I will do it.

In Matthew 18:19 Jesus says it again:
Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

I just wonder when this guy will be brought up on charges. I would hate to be his defense lawyer and have such an uphill case to make.

Christ The Savior is happy in Roman Catholic El Salvador

In El Salvador, Yet Another Woman’s Life Subordinated to Non-Viable Fetus

Beatriz wants to live. A 22-year-old Salvadoran from a poor, rural community, Beatriz (a pseudonym to protect privacy) suffers from chronic and severe medical conditions. She is the mother of an infant. And she is roughly 18 weeks pregnant with an anencephalic fetus, a fetus without a brain. Doctors at the Maternity Hospital determined that the pregnancy is life-threatening, and Beatriz requested that Salvadoran medical personnel perform an abortion, but a 1998 law in El Salvador prohibits all abortions, without exception.

Under current law, both Beatriz and any medical personnel involved in an abortion would face criminal charges and prison time.

If there were a (just) God, he would've struck the parents with that sickness instead.

Gubbamint programs that assist these types of people impede evolution

That's a bit harsh, don't you think? Kids don't get to chose their parents.

Either that or this is one of those times where god is "testing their faith"

    Not quite.

I am fairly laid back about being an atheist for the most part, until people try rationalizing slaughtering children, or stupid s like the couple in the OP end up killing babies in the name of their beliefs.

    Background:
Christian apologist rationalizing the slaughter and drowning of children:
    http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/show...=1#post6197414

That kind of rank dishonesty and immorality rankles, and I will make no apologies for getting a tad worked up, especially when the harm is so obvious, as in the OP.

    Mark 16

14*Afterward he (Jesus) appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.
15*And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16*He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be
    damned.
    17*And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18*They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
