Agree. The Spurs have to play hard from the beginning.
If Golden State jumps out to a double digit lead while shooting over 70% ..the crowd gets rolling the basket becomes even larger.... the series is over in 5 games
If the Spurs jump out to an early lead and hold Golden State to something under 50% they have a shot to win the series..
Agree. The Spurs have to play hard from the beginning.
Spurs lost their mojo a couple months ago. No swagger, no confidence, no cohesion, and brain-dead line ups will produce a 2nd-round exit.
I believe the last 5 minutes will tell us how the series is going.
Technically, the last 5 minutes will probably give us a better indication. The Spurs will do themselves a big favor by matching GS's energy and silencing the crowd as much as possible. I think we'll see a better performance from Tim tonight. A few more days removed from his stomach ailments and he should bring more to the table. I'm not sure that people realize we outscored GS by 10 pts in the second half of the Game 2 loss. If we bring the same defensive focus and intensity, I don't see why we can't win Game 3.
Agreed that we need to come out blazing, especially defensively, but the end of the games seems to be our strength this series.
As much as I'm hoping the Spurs find their pre-funk magic, this statement right here pretty much sums it all up. Blame it on injuries, the long season, line ups, or whatever. The Spurs haven't been the same since February. Didn't they go winless on the road for a long while there?
They're gonna need the first five minutes to have a chance at the last five minutes.
We have to keep the score close at least.
If the Spurs find themslves down 8 entering the second half i like opur chances.
I'm tired of playing from behind.
Its the last 5 minutes of every quarter that will tell a more accurate story imo. Def not the first 5 minutes of their first 2nd round home game in how many years? That crowd will be great for them. If we go punch for punch in the first 5 that'd be awesome but if were down early I'm not panicked. Its all about how they close out the qtrs.
Not letting Thompson and Curry take open Js will be a huge difference.
We have yet to see our team get it going at the beginning of each game. We look pretty stagnant out there. I know it sounds weird but hopefully we feed off the energy of the oracle faithful.
First 5 minutes will tell us if we are starting Tiago or we leave that option to game 5 (like Grizzlies series) and then it will be too late.
Bottom line is we need to shoot better than 39% from the field. If we shoot our season avg from the field and the line we crush game 2.
A quick good start is HUGE, if they come out struggling and warriors are doing good this games over, Oracle arena is insane, that place is ridiculous loud and they feed off of them. This is going to be a HARD game to pull off
