I think the development of Leonard is a huge upgrade at the small forward position that makes this spurs team better than the 2011 spurs team.

The color of his skin should shed light onto why he may think this; critical thinking is probably not a strength. Guy is lucky to have a job right now, tbh.

Nothing new. We were discounted in the Lakers series, the GSW series and now with the Grizzlies. You guys should be used to this by now. This is the norm.
Yep. Pretty much means it's our year.

What? 2011 was still the HWSNBN era. The Spurs may be declining and playing soft but it's not even close to the HWSNBN times.

LMFAO! Yeah we had Dyess at C then and no Kawhi! Green was not here either I believe? Totally different team. What an idiot. Last years team was light years ahead of 2011's team, this one might be a little better than last years team (Well maybe not but on par or near it). 2011 team a pure jump shooting team, Tim Duncan was all banged up and slow that year and looked near retirement! Manu had a broken arm. Yeah I see his point.

You're forgetting Rudy Gay, but outside of that little to no change.
Gay did not play in 2011 playoffs.

I don't think the Spurs are any better. Leonard is an upgrade but Manu is a downgrade. The Spurs still rely too much on Manu. Splitter is a bust. Memphis will control the boards. Memphis has grown as a team and are playing the best basketball of their season now. The Spurs lucked out with the lakers injured and GS a fluke shooting perimeter team that went south after Curry rolled his ankle and still pushed the Spurs to 6 games .

Danny Green was on the 2011 roster but this was when he was the 14th man and where his compe ion on the roster was Da'Sean Butler.

IIRC, I think Pop started going to Danny Green when RJ the bed.

Duncan is a big difference from 2011. He has found the fountain of youth. In 2011 against the Grizz in the playoffs he averaged 12 pts/gm. This year against Pau Gasol and Howard in LA...Timmy schooled them and is averaging 18 pts/gm in these playoffs. When Timmy plays like that...life is good if you are a Spurs fan.

This is what Blackistone really meant:
I am so sick and ing tired of the Spurs. Will they ever go away? Ever? Twenty-five years from now, will we be talking about how spry Tim Duncan looks at age 62 in our 2038 WCF preview? What the ? The Mavs rose after the Spurs did and have already collapsed, rebuilt, and collapsed again! It's been the same every year since Bill Clinton was ing Monica Lewinski! I'm picking Memphis, Memphis has to win to stop this hemorrhaging of my soul, I don't really have a reason why, I don't care about having a reason why, let me just through this out there about 2011. I'm not going to analyze the matchup. the matchup. the Spurs.
I believe this to be exactly what he really meant.

Kevin Blackistone said on Around the Horn that he's picking Memphis over the Spurs because "we already saw this series back in 2011" and that "the Spurs haven't gotten better, but the Grizzlies have". Do you writers not give a anymore? You would think he'd have some pride in his work and do some actual research/journalism...
Kevin Blackstone is a jackass & idiot! Memphis got worse! They got rid of OJ Mayo & Rudy Gay! Spurs are better now that in 2011! What a moron! Spurs in 6!

Manu is not a downgrade from 2011 injured Manu.
Yes he is not playing good and they will be relying on him. He will shoot poorly like he has been all playoffs and hurt the team, he is a downgrade. Manu and Splitter and the role players will not come through. This place is going to be a meltdown when the spurs drop this series. Way too over confident in the team.

Manu had a broken arm and was a starter that season. We had Ime Udoka for God's sake and Danny Green played a total of seven minutes. This team is better.

O.J Mayo played a pivotal role in our defeat. If you don't believe so just ask Manu Ginobili

And Tim was coming off a really bad sprained ankle. He was basically playing on one leg. Man, I can't ing wait till Sunday so these assholes can get a sweet sweet surprise in our 2013 Spurs.

When you hear things like this you have to ask whether the guy actually watches the Spurs.

I was going to say Memphis has got better, but I'm not sure they have. They have the same core with Conley/Allen/Randolph/Gasol, and that core is better than it was 2 years ago. The question is whether Prince/Bayless is even close to Battier/Mayo, and I have to say I don't think so. Mayo is a better scorer than Bayless and Battier is a better shooter and defender than Prince. If they are better, it's not by a huge amount.

Now look at the Spurs. Splitter will play major minutes compared to 2011 when he was the 5th big behind Dice, Blair and Bonner. Kawhi is head and shoulders above Jefferson.

Timmy had knee problems in 2011 and Manu had a broken arm. Although they both had serious issues in 2011, I'm not sure we can expect more from them this series than we did then. Broken arm Manu in 2011 is pretty much 2013 Manu, and Timmy struggled against Bogut so I'm not expecting much against Gasol. The Spurs are still a better team just because of Splitter and Kawhi though.

The one where a 40% David Lee, Carl Landry, rookie scrub Ezeli feasted on the offensive board. Bogut was the only legit big in the series and the Spurs frontline had rebounding trouble. Gasol and Randolph are getting hard thinking about how many boards they can get.

2011 broken arm Manu was about the same level as 2013 Manu
