Yeah I'm scared
In each of the four NBA Finals that the Spurs have participated in, they held home-court advantage and were arguably favored to win.
Not so the case if the Spurs and Heat win their conference finals respectively. Miami will be favored; beating the Heat would be a real upset victory to enjoy - a first for the Spurs franchise, pulling off an upset win in the Finals.
(Yes, I know, we're still in the middle of the Western Conference Finals. You don't need to remind me that.)
We're in the middle of the Western Conference Finals.
Why would we be the under dogs against Indiana..
See what I did there?
Spurs would be about 2/2.5 to 1 to win if they played heat
Neither series is anywhere close to being done. Let's cross that bridge when we come to it...
It became quite a bit less certain that they will be if they make it that far. I'm sort of back on the wait and see boat.
Let's ing make it there before making threads like this tbh
Why do people have such a hard time stretching their minds a little bit and contemplating how a Spurs-Heat series would fare? I get it that the conference finals are still going on but Spurs and Heat are both favored to win. What's wrong with imagining a little and looking forward?
A bit over confident here are we? Lets beat the Grizzlies first. We are up 2-0 but the Grizz can surprise us and still tie this series.
Last year my prediction was that it'd be a Heat/Spurs finals, and that the Spurs would suffer their first finals defeat. Obviously it didn't materialise, but if nothing else, the law of averages would suggest that we're due a finals loss at some point in time. That said, I'd happily roll with a 5-0 finals record if at all possible!
If Indiana does make it, then the Spurs have definitely had lady luck on their side this year.
Grizz never been in the NBA Finals
I hesitate to think about how badly the nba offices would implode in their thinking if Indiana overcomes the cHeat and the Spurs make the finals. I know that the NBA front offices would be pushing an almost father vs son type of story line with Hill and Mahimi both being former young spurs and all but 2 of the Pacers roster being under 30.
The angle pushing Leonard vs George will also be interesting and pushed very very hard by the TV heads if it happens but in truth the match-ups of Green vs Hill and Duncan v Hibbert will be more important to both teams.
If those are the two teams in the finals Stern may well threaten to put off retirement until he can give the lakers a new team and direction.
They`ll be favourite against Pacers
Let Spurs be the underdog against the greatly over-ranked Heat- who have played so far a injured team and a 50 win team and not yet been impressive against either-Bring on the Heat and Spurs in 6!
If we can beat Memphis and stay healthy, I like our chances in the Finals against either team. Wade isn't the Wade of old, so Miami is now a one-man team. The Spurs will beat a one-man team. The Pacers would be a tough out, but we would have home court, and I'll take the Spurs against a young team who has never been in the Finals. David West hasn't even been in the Finals. The Pacers only won 48 games in a very weak Eastern Conference, and they obviously have no bench. In last night's win over the Heat, the Pacer bench scored 5 points.
Look, not only do I not know whether or not we will beat Memphis, but I have long been of the conviction that we in the West are all fighting each other for the right to lose to Miami.
But I would rather get there and lose than not get there.
It would also be the ABA finals, bring out the old logos, get the teams to play with throwbacks, great way to sneak in the Dr.J do entary..
Spurs will once again be the favorites because the Pacers are gonna beat the Heat.
Pacers were a layup away from being up 2-0..
You mean based on Vegas?
05 we were underdogs unless you mean Vegas
