I may be misremembering things then.

Must've been one of the Medal of Honor games.

So many good games free out right now for PSN+.

I wasn't planning on re-upping with them but I may have too. I have too many games downloaded that I haven't even touched yet. Got 170 days still on my membership but I'm slow as going through backlogs.

That's what, about half a year? Maybe it'll carry over for the PS4

Besides who knows if Sony is going to going to run out with the free quality games. Who knows where this service is going in half a year.

    Probably, yeah.

But like I said, I'm not going to get a PS4 for a while. I'll stick with the PS3 for as long as possible.

I'll let you be the guinea pig with all the incoming bugs and ylods and whatnot. lol

I had an OG fat $600 PS3 with PS2 backwards compatibility die on me two or three years later after I bought it. Bought a slim a year later after the fat croaked. Yeah never again. I'll wait after the launch as well.

Oh to contribute to this thread, and as lame as this sounds, I've been playing Euro Truck Simulator 2013 on the PC. It's pretty ing good and lots of fun for some reason. I'm not sure I can explain why it's fun, it's just one of those quirky games that you have to try the demo out and you may or may not like. But I'm having a blast.

I hear the ultimate experience is to have a steering wheel and TrackIR but yeah, not going to go that far. I'm just playing it with a gamepad.

If you buy the steering wheel and TrackIR, you MUST get a truckstop pros ute and a gram of meth to complete the experience.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. 7/10. It executes well but doesn't really have an original idea in it. Takes graphical cues from WoW, sprawling world of Elder Scrolls, lots of fetch quests and junk gear to sort through. The combat is the only place where it tries to break away a little and it's a mixed bag. There's some good boss battles. There's enough depth to the skill tree and some timing based combos (more akin to God of War) that fights can be fun but you can just as easily get by mashing buttons, at least with the standard Warrior/Tank character build. Haven't tried it with the Rogue and Wizard, though I doubt that will be a huge game changer.

If you're a fan of the genre it's worth a look. It hits all the usual beats that we've come to expect but it mostly hits them dead center.

I can remember him doing shows like Conan a few years back. I was just sort of amazed seeing a video game getting a more traditional media push like a talk show circuit at the time. I knew that had gone belly up but it wasn't until buying it not long ago that I bothered to read up a little. The production costs were so ed up they needed to ship 3 MILLION units to break even. Insane.

Tough call for me between Vice City and San Andreas. I mean Vice City was such a leap forward from an already incredible GTA III, but the gang wars in San Andreas are some of the greatest SP gaming ever done. I wish Vice City had the AK47 from San Andreas too; assault rifles suck on VC. Time period is funny as though.

Still have no idea how they took that incredible series and made such a boring game in IV. GTAIV was basically

    driving
    driving
    driving
    nothing's happening
    driving
    nothing's happening
    go shoot someone, mission completed
    driving back to apartment
    driving
    Roman wants to play darts
I just finished up San Andreas; was still bad ass. Definitely gonna play some Vice City next.

I never did finish GTA4; I think I stopped after like the 10th mission. I just didn't like it and I think people were just all caught up in how nice it looked, but that don't make the game. I cruised around the GTA5 thread and everyone's doing the same by circlejerking over screenshots. Wait til the ing game comes out and who gives a about graphics.

The one thing that gives me hope is they have Niko Bellic homeless and holding a cardboard sign under an overpass on one of the trailers. Sort of an acknowledgement of how much of a up GTA4 was. I'm not ready to give up on the franchise yet when GTA3, GTAVC, and GTASA were such incredible pieces of work. Hopefully it doesn't go the way of Call of Duty though.

I dunno, there's something about Liberty City that doesn't do it for me. I liked GTA3 don't get me wrong but I in loved VC and SA a whole lot more. Maybe it's because the whole NYC vibe is so cliche and the fact that I love killing Russian commie bas s in video games turned me off to playing as one. I dunno

I don't think Rockstar will it up, they should be too smart for that. Then again, since they know every GTA game is gonna make quadrillions of dollars, they could start getting lazy. I hope that never happens but it could. I do hope they release a PC version because I don't have a PS3 or 360 since I'm not the gamer I once was.

They probably will, eventually, but the last port was so bad it made me want to staple raw meat to babies and throw them into the Tiger pen at the zoo

Edit: A mildly humorous attempt to narrow down a PC release date http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/05/01/gt...-release-date/

Ugh true that. I think that's another reason why I quit IV, the controls were utter . Maybe I can get a used PS3 or something for cheap somewhere if the controls for V are dog .

I'd like to think that Rockstar has learned some lessons from the abortion that was the last GTA. Even EA got their FIFA port dialed in after people kept complaining.

Console market also isn't nearly as attractive now as it was when their last installment debuted. Plenty of money to be made on the PC side, so I'm hoping they take it seriously

The controls were terrible on XBox360 also. It was just an all-around poor game with nice graphics. God the missions were more repe ive than closing Oblivion gates.

For some reason I got the urge to play this again today, and man does it suck. Niko moves like a 300 pound barrel ass and drives like an Asian woman. This game is so weak in comparison to the classics GTA3, Vice City, and San Andreas, and soundtrack sucks.
Only major release GTA (not counting the Liberty City Stories, Ballad of Gay Tony, etc crap) with no replay value whatsoever.

Yeah, maybe wait a couple of weeks.

You can see from my posts that I really tried to like that game, but the only really awesome on it was the shows you take dates to (Ricky Gervais killed in his sets on GTA IV).

    lol

I just read (most) that entire thread. Pretty funny imo. Starts off "omg the graphics will be sweet", which is par for any game being released. Game released, everyone spurts their in each others faces claiming it's the best ever. Bump the thread a year later, everyone's like "yeah, it was pretty ty. San Andreas/Vice City were way better".

SpecOps: The Line 7/10. Holy what a bleak ass game. Most "gritty" games really top out somewhere around the worst of the that happened on 24. This kicks it up to 11. Not surprising for a game that cites Heart of Darkness (and by extension Apocalypse Now) as big influences. The game has to walk a fine line (no pun intended) between trying to make the player feel the central characters frustration and powerlessness as the warzone around him spins out of control without actually leaving the player feeling frustrated and powerless in terms of gameplay. It succeeds more than it fails in that regard, which make the times where it fails all the worse. The story and production values are ambitious and top notch. That looks all the more jarring along side the actual gameplay which is bland, repe ive, and devoid of any original ideas (and the cover mechanic and squad AI can get buggy at the worst times). The multiplayer is an obvious afterthought.

All told it's well worth a weekend rental. The main campaign's story has a great deal of depth in it's short run despite it's competent but shallow core gameplay.

PC - Metro: Last Light - 9/10 - Amazing graphics, great shooter mechanics. Eerie setting, and a few scares.

Did you youtube all four ending scenarios like I did seeing as they give you choices how to end the game?

Did you let Konrad shoot you in that mirror scene or did you shoot him? I shot him but that's because I got desperate with him counting down on me.
