I agree as a coach it's better to lose by believing in your principles than to lose by panicking or over adjusting.
How can you compare Hibbert to Ginoibli ? and the way how can you compare frank vogel to pop?
Hibbert is the core of the pacers and Manu is gone already so why donˊt you just take the risk to play T mac instead of Manu in maybe 10 mins?
Manu now is the biggest problem to the team on both ends you have to think out of the box for winning the extremely critical Game 5
Tmac is ready to play he is in good sharp and I strongly believe in him the way you believe in our Big 3 Tmac had a very tough time in China last year I know he treasures every moment in the NBA especially NBA Finals where he used to dream to be
Gentlemen, please give him a chnace, a chance to win a championship for us
I agree as a coach it's better to lose by believing in your principles than to lose by panicking or over adjusting.
No, he shouldnt.
Have you seen TMAC, he has not looked good even against scrubs.
Should Tracy McGrady play instead of Manu Ginobli?![]()
I would hate to see Pop get away from what's been working half of the time. I think last year when he ran from success against OKC it cost the Spurs that series. That being said, TMac may be an answer for the lost post rotation. Some may think that McGrady could be the back up point guard. That was already said about Diaw. The difference between Tracy and Boris is that fans wouldn't be screaming because TMac just passed up a wide open 14 footer like we do with Diaw. I think that McGrady and Baynes would be hard for Miami to defend, but do not think they will see any time.
I'd try T-mac in place of Neal before I'd pull the plug on Manu. Neal has hit big shots but he's been the biggest defensive liability on the court for the spurs in every game of this series so far.
In six games since returning to the NBA Tmac has scored zero points against scrubs. smh
He had no help
It couldn't hurt playing him a little more
I mentioned in another thread if you are going to play TMac it would be at PF and take some of Splitter's minutes.
Parker's backup is typically Ginobili but the suckage is obvious right now. The other point guards can't match Parker's efficiency. It's obvious that the Spurs greatest weakness is at backup point guard. T-Mac was used extensively by Van Gundy as the point guard. He can play shooting guard and also small forward and some power forward because of his size. But I'd run him at backup point guard. You could go with T-Mac, Parker, Ginobili, at the same time for short stints with Duncan and Green. That might actually give the Heat a lot of trouble.
TMac's benefit will be in finding the bigs. The Spurs are not finding the bigs in the pick and roll. Our bigs were supposed to be a strength but we haven't be able to put them in a position to be successful. The ball has to go inside to force the defense to collapse.
playing tmac as the point is possible since pop used to put brent berry at the point a few years ago agaisnt the lakers. it would have turned out just fine if the non-call didn't happen.
i can't tell the difference between the tmac now and the berry then except for tmac not being able to knock down an open shot.
but, ya its a panic move thats not gonna happen with a player who has only been with the team for 2 months.
Not a panic move if he uses it stategically. CJ has been getting minutes and he's at times looked inexperienced. Unfortunately I have to say it but depending on what happens tomorrow Pop may be getting outcoached by Spoelstra. The Spurs were looking good till he inserted Mike Miller in the starting lineup. It doesn't make sense for Pop to abandon the improved defense that has allowed the Spurs to get to this point in order to match up with the best small ball in the league. If you're going to lose, do it by playing to your iden y not trying to match the other team's.
I will say yes Manu is apart of the Big 3 and he probably sells a lot of jerseys and tickets but that's all moot when it comes to results in the Finals. I'll use Tim Tebow as an example, sure he sells a lot of jerseys, brings media hype to an organization but there is no way that I'd play him over half the QB's in the league regardless of how old they are.. The point is Manu has been struggling and it's been worse as the rounds go by, he was decent against LA, then started to struggle against Golden State aside from a few big time hits after big time bone head plays, then wasn't really relevant against the Grizz. He's not performing and I'd rather try to spread minutes around to someone else who might spark something off the bench who wants to contribute, someone that the other team hasn't seen with our "stars" or our first string in order to e things up. I'm not saying to entirely bench Manu but we need to mix it up or else we'll be seeing the same result and wondering why we're losing.
Because Tebow has 3 championships, an Olympic gold medal and has been one of the best QBs in the league for over 10 years.... great analogy.
Manu's positives have always overcome his negatives. Unfortunately his negatives have overtaken his positives. The one thing that has always irritated me about Manu is his careless passing. If he doesn't outright turn it over he throws such a bad pass that the person handling it turns it over. People in SA have always been over oooohed and ahhhhed at Manu. As soon as he makes one of his wow plays, they develop amnesia at all the damage he's done up to that point. My neighbor is a huge Manu fan and we're always bickering because he blames everything on Tony. He'll point to Tony having more turnovers. 'Yeah' I tell him, because he has the ball in his hands about 10 times more than Manu, if not more. Manu is actually WORSE then he looks statistically and always HAS been. He has to score AT LEAST 15 to just break even as far as I'm concerned. And we haven't seen 30ppg Manu in a few years. Fact is, we should have traded him around 2008 when we could get something for him. As far as I'm concerned he should have been traded in 2006 after the Dirk foul wc semi's. I've never forgiven him for that. That was the Spurs repeat and eventual three-peat making them an undeniable dynasty. He can just do the stupidest you've ever seen. And playing him with Tony, Tim and Leonard on the bench, Miami just doubles him and ....turnover city. And this jacking the long threes...man. At this point though, I don't blame Manu, I blame pop. I blame pop for the game 4 loss. You're down 7 to start the 4th and you do so with Leonard, Parker, Duncan on the bench ? And it gets away from them but they still had their chances. He just threw in the towel. Two of my buddies, one from Miami and a Heat fan were texting me, 'what is pop doing' ? Yeah, what the is he doing ? Check your calendar pop. This is the ing NBA finals pal, not a regular season game in Miami in December. Good lord. What a doofus.
Manu never scored 30ppg. He might have had a 30pt game, but ppg is average.
Also, it's really easy to be Captain Hindsight but only a fool would have traded Manu away because he fouled Dirk. Without Manu we probably don't get the 2005 ring so the three peat would never have even started.
At least put something other than bile and bromide into your post. You sound like someone who lost money on the deal.
we desperately need another reliable ball handler who can grt into the paint and make passes without turning he ball over. that person is Tmac.
T-Mac and Manu should play together.
Also, if Splitter keeps going up with soft Blocked shots I'd rather see Blair.
The Spurs can't forget to shoot midrange shots either, Miami was giving them but we kept driving in.
