AchileesHeel's predictions and takes have been atrocious since joining the board, tbh..
Lakers-Celtics 2010 TV Ratings: 10.6
Lakers-Celtics 2008 TV Ratings: 9.3
Lakers-Magic 2009 TV Ratings: 8.4
Lakers-Pistons 1989: 15.1
Lakers-Pistons 1988: 15.4
Lakers-Celtics 1987: 15.9
Ya, you get the point, tbh..
And even the Rockets-Magic in 1995 drew a 13 rating, higher than any Lakers series in the 2000s, which speaks volumes for my argument..
it's my last day today, tbh..
I don't ever remember MJ having to rely on role players to bail him out in the NBA Finals. Ray Allen saved Lebron's "legacy." MJ created his.
The Suns had him on the line 20 years ago this month & Paxson bailed him out.
And what do the Lakers have anything to do with this topic? This is about ratings during Lebron's era vs MJ's. Obviously, when MJ was dominating the NBA Finals were much more popular, more people tuned in to see Michael make history instead of Lebron being bailed out by his teammates.
And fyi, the 2013 Finals had worse ratings than the 2010 Finals.
You're proving my point, NBA has gotten less popular since MJ retired.
Jordan went 5-19 from the field against Seattle in game 7 of the '96 Finals, but sure, he never needed his teammates..
The other poster cited the Lakers as an example of a team that still draws ratings in today's league..as I proved, ratings in today's sports, not just the NBA, are lower due to the various outlets to stay updated on sports, tbh..
The NBA drew higher ratings than today even when Jordan retired for 2 years..
Harlem, I know you're a huge Lebron fan and I know how much it kills you that Michael Jordan ever existed. Your boy Bron will always be in his shadow, just like Achilles.
Jordan never allowed a Game 7 in the NBA Finals.
Game 6*..
Jordan shot 5-19 in the close-out game against Seattle after the Bulls blew a 3-0 series lead and needed his teammates to bail him out, tbh..
I'm pretty sure Harlem acknowledged that LeBron will never be better than MJ.
Then why is he so insecure about Lebron being in MJ's shadow? Why does he get so riled up about ratings? Why does he have to point out MJ shooting 5-19 if he's fine with Lebron never being the GOAT?
I don't think Lebron's career will equal Jordan and I don't think he can sustain greatness for as long as Jordan did, but I would take 2012 and 2013 Lebron over any 2-year period from Jordan, tbh..
Lebron had much more responsibility on his team than Jordan did during his le years, tbh..
I pointed out 5-19 because Batmanu said Jordan never needed a bailout, tbh..
Yea those aren't bail outs.. Jordan was double-teamed by Utah so he hit the wide open man (Kerr) for a jump shot, and Paxson's shot came off an out of bounds play after a time out. It wasn't after MJ turned the ball over two straight times in the last minute like Lebron.. Phoenix didn't choke away that game with missed FT's and giving offensive rebounds.
The only reason I say this is because I think it's funny how one Ray Allen prayer essentially saved Lebron's "legacy" that everyone likes to talk about. If Spurs don't royally choke, Lebron is suddenly 1-3 in the Finals and is known as a choker. But Ray Ray hits that prayer and suddenly Lebron is arguably better than MJ, a man who went 6-0 in the NBA Finals and didn't rely on prayers to win them. Just sayin. It's all overindulgence by the fans & media anyways. People are too easily manipulated and influenced by talking heads. It's almost laughable.
