Another thing... the Spurs couldn't afford to guard Battier the way they wanted to with James elevating his game so much by hitting those threes and by Wade stepping up and hitting his jumpshot consistently. Those looks Battier got in Game 7 were a direct result of James and Wade really stepping to the plate when the Heat needed them. Spurs got beat by two first ballot Hall of Famers going HAM.

College basketball truly sucks. How it can be so popular in the USA while they have the best basketball league by far with the NBA, is a huge mystery to me.
Agreed. The talent level is laughable.

He was only stopped when Miami decided to lock him down (which was the last 2 games in the Finals), only grip is Green cant create his own shot!

I think Boeheim is targeting more on UNC than Danny Green. Green as a mid-second round pick has well exceeded expectations in the NBA.

Im postive UNC has won more chips than Syracuse since 2003. UNC has more players playing in the NBA than Syracuse.

Carmelo, his prize player, has yet to make the NBA finals.

I didn't see that until you said something tbh. He didn't necessarily say that but he did say, "At one point, I would have taken Manu over Kobe"

I think in 05-06 a lot of people would have agreed. Sucks Manu was at his peak for just a couple seasons though.

People become very attached to their college teams. I didn't know about UNM before I went there and now I am a pretty damn rabid fan for our sports - ESPECIALLY basketball. Part of it is how awesome going to the games is. Better atmosphere than any NBA crowd.

Green relies on Parker to get open looks. Parker wasn't on.

What's surprising about Green not going off? (He had only 1 really bad game in the finals) Green's a roleplayer, he's not the messiah.

Green was the reason this series was even as close as it was. I don't think we were ever BETTER than Miami (in the sense of suffocating defense and straight killing them inside on offense). Hot 3 point shooting is always a gimmick, and big blowout wins where you shoot a godly 70%+ from three should be taken as fools gold.

That being said, you can't blame a role player that makes 3-4mill a year. In any case, he played fantastic defense and rebounded well for us.
In game 3 the Spurs played good defense (held the Heat to under 80) and moved the ball on offense. When you get good 3pt shooting from good ball movement it's not a gimmick. The problem happened when the Spurs abandoned their defense to play small ball with the Heat. Our defenders could have suffocated the Heat more on the perimeter if we had played TD and Splitter together more.

Boeheim is a great basketball coach. To call him overrated is nutty. His opinion is his opinion. Moving on...

Shooting 1-12 on the road in a Finals Game 7 is murderous. Absolutely positively catastrophic. And when the Spurs nailed a three and stole the inbounds and Green's frigid ass jacked up that guarded three....ugh.

That's tantamount to playing with a hangnail. Green was horrid at the end of the series and it hurt the Spurs significantly, that is beyond debate. That's also the point that Boeheim was clearly trying to make, albeit via a superfluous choice of words.
Green regressed to the mean... nothing more, nothing less. Fever aside, anyone expecting anything else in Games 6 and 7 of the NBA Finals on the road after shooting lights out over the first five is being unreasonable or delusional. Boeheims off base here and he needed to pick a better context to base his statement on.

It's unwatchable. It's terrible quality, boring and gimmicky. College basketball coaches are no better than the guys announcing the And-1 tour. But they are less entertaining.

Maybe in your country it does.
The quality of college ball in the one-and-down era is . Don't conflate the excitement of March Madness with the quality of the basketball. It's been terrible for some years now.

Wtf is Boeheim taking shots at Danny for? I mean yea, he played horribly in Game's 6 & 7, but why go out of your way to take a jab like that? What a bum.

Without the tourney NCAA basketball would be completely irrelevant. Most of the sports fans I know fill out a bracket but I only know a handful of them that actually watch college basketball outside of that.

On the west coast and in the northeast college bball is huge, as it should be. It's a fantastic sport.
