Can we still trade Brent Barry for this dude?
Why? He's a complete and utter idiot. There was a chance to bring him into the fold like 7 years ago when he was young and had never been corrupted by AI and Melo, but that ship sailed years ago. He is what he is.
Just kidding bro. But it's a no brainer if you're going to choose between Smith and Neal, ofcourse I'll choose Smith but it's too obvious he would ask too much money and ofcourse he won't play here. To be fair, he's actually playing well with the Knicks this season but I still don't want his at ude.
On talent? Sure. Can't see the Spurs EVER pursuing Smith, though.
I don't think he'd work out here. He seems to only be good on teams like the Knicks where they can afford to have a guy chuck 15-20 shots off the bench. Plus they have some other nut cases like Kenyon Martin on their team to keep Smith company also...
I don't think theres many players whose game I enjoy less than JR Smith. He chucks up shots like Kobe, but doesn't have the talent to do it.
The shame is that he HAS the talent, just not the work ethic or responsibility. He could have BEEN Kobe II if he weren't such a dumbass.
Ball Handler, Can create his own shot, average defender, and a decent passer. He wouldn't be able to take as many shots as he's used to here though. Which is a good thing. What would he ask for though?

Just for the of it...from last year:

Definitely, I’m a big fan of Coach Pop, I’m a big fan of the organization, so the Spurs were definitely on my list.
Wanted to post that, but yeah, if Pop can handle Neal and Manu's shot selection I'm sure he can deal with Smith's.
Pop is not complete without at least one chucker on his team. I'm on the fence about wanting him, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Spurs showed interest yet again.
Anytime there has been some semblance of availability for Smith there appears to be interest from the Spurs FO. I don't know that it'll end up happening this time, but there's obviously a need off the bench due to Ginobili's precipitous decline and the free agency of Neal.
Tyreke getting a lot of love on the forum, but Smith is probably the easier sign and more reasonable contract.
