And Denver actually made a better offer. 4y/52m
So funny that ORL won that trade and everyone was making fun of them when it happened.

A second round draft pick is how those types of S&T's have usually gone down. The old team ends up getting a trade exception out of it as well.
People said the same thing when the Flakers got him
I believe they get 3 1st round draft picks, '14, '16, '18 1st round picks of the Warriors. Remember the Warriors basically just traded away the 1st round pick they got for taking on RJ. But the Spurs pick was the last pick of the 1st round. I hardly doubt the Warriors pick will be that low. It should be in the lower 20's
That is why I say the Spurs need to trade their '14 now b/c everyone is willing to take on whatever to get a pick in next year's draft. Spurs should have a bottom 3 pick next year as well. Its not like they are going to get anyone of value next year.
On the bright side, the Lakers would be the third best team in their division.
Like last year when LA get Howard+Nash+Meeks+Jamisson ?
Without a doubt. We could go ahead and give out the '13-'14 executive of the year award.
Not even remotely close.
No, teams can still go over the cap to sign their own free agents they have Bird Rights to. They basically can still offer him the Max if they want, which I highly doubt they do. This is a sign and trade, which means the Jazz acquiring the Rights of RJ and Biedrins so this doesn't preclude whatsoever from resigning Millsaps.
Don't argue with Bruno about the CBA unless you can cite references that prove your point.
Nah. They'd be joining the West's elite tier with SA and OKC, but they still wouldn't be clear-cut favorites.
For a team that already has 4 point guards under contract for next season, the Spurs name sure does keep coming up a lot with free agent point guards.
Look how many of them got playing time in the Finals.
Yeah to me it pretty much confirms that we're using the MLE on Beli and are only gonna sign another PG and then we will be done...
There is a cap hold associated with keeping Bird rights on a player. For Millsap, this cap hold is $12.9M. They can't have that cap hold and do that trade. Utah will have to renounce at Millsap bird rights.
The Jazz have Milsaps Bird Rights but they still have to create enough cap space to absorb the contracts of RJ, Biedrins and Rush in a trade. To do that they have to renounce Milsap to get his cap hold off the books. But that step also means losing his Bird Rights.
They could offer him more than those 5.2m right now but then that trade becomes impossible unless they dump some other contracts first.
Ah too slow..
Doesn't work like that. Millsap's "cap hold" is already on the books - so they can't even officially make the trade which takes on that much salary unless he's either signed to a much smaller deal, or renounced.
The cap hold prevents teams with FAs from cir venting the cap by taking on a bunch of money via trade - then just using their bird rights on the FAs they want to keep.
Edit: Bruno, of course, beat me.
What it means to me is that Decolo, or Joseph, or both, are about to be traded for a future 2nd round draft pick.
I've got to believe that Howard is going to the Warriors. Iguodala is obviously a good player, but he's aging, reliant on athleticism and in Barnes, they have one of the best SF prospects in the league, plus Thompson. So I doubt they'd give up two future 1sts to get a team to take two guys on expiring contracts, just to sign him.
Damn this offseason hasn't even began lol. is going down once Howard makes up his mind...Spurs still have a few tricks up their sleeve IMO
