The only time I have ever given real consideration to the long-running conspiracy that the NBA is rigged was in 2007-08 season. After the SAS marched cleanly to a fourth championship (while receiving a gift with shades of Patrick Beverly much like the gift of Don Nelson wanting to bend the Mavs over publicly) the two most storied franchises in league history benefit from remarkable trades that result in each becoming top contenders in their respective conferences. KG & Ray Allen were shipped to Boston, and after a promising start from the Lakers "natural" lineup, Bynum is injured and miraculously replaced by one of the best PF's in the league, Pau Gasol.

The one thing that has kept me from buying into the idea that the league is rigged is actually this website. Here I have heard fans from other, and bigger markets (like Phoenix, LA, and Miami) complain about the refs like they were cheering for a 6th ranked dark-horse contender. For me, if I choose to believe the league is rigged then why watch at all? If you genuinely believe the league is rigged then what are your reasons for watching the NBA over the WWE?

The league is not rigged. If it were you'd all be dumbasses for watching and complaining about it. Anyone who spends all day on the forums talking about how the game is rigged is a dumbass anyways.

Memphis were a 20-30 win team with Pau and their lack of defense, they were stuck in mediocrity with the roster they had. Trading away Pau's contract allowed them the flexibility that they never had and it got them a DPOY in return. Though Lakers won 2 chips thanks to that trade it wasn't solely because of Pau, they had Phil,LO and others. People just love to complain when their team is not winning.

They basically traded Pau for a younger version of him that could play defense. Marc didn't just become a good player this year, he's been this good since he was a rookie. IMO a solid trade for Memphis, especially for the future.

Not rigged? Ever heard of a franchise called the Lakers? Or a guy named David Stern? Maybe you should google them.

NBA is rigged....has been for a long time. Bulls received very favorable officiating during the Utah series, Lakers benefited from them, and of course Lebron on any team he has been.

Dumb fux will look at free throw discrepancy and assume as long as the free throws are close then a game was not rigged. It's more often than not about getting certain players in foul trouble, certain calls against the team, and momentum killing moves. The free throw thing is highly overrated. The NBA realized after the D-whistle saga in 2006 that the fans were a bit too smart to fall for that again.

And when shots that take at least 2.4 seconds to get off are counted, even thought there's only 0.4 on the clock. Strangely enough, it was a Lakers who benefitted from that play, which to this point is the worst call in the history of the NBA.

So why watch? Is it just like pro wrestling for you, or do you still consider it legitimate sport?

I didn't see spur fans crying about reffing when Duncan was illegally subbed in at the end of the 4th when Allen made that three, then it was all fair.

I genuinely believe the league is rigged and I watch both NBA and WWE. People watch the s for entertaining purposes. It's fun to be a supporter of the team you love and you can rant or complain about how "rigged" the game is, but you can't take it too seriously. they're professional athletes but they're also entertainers who get paid for hebaving that way imho.
