He had conversations with several teams, and the Timberwolves did offer him a three-year deal that would have paid him $6 million to $7 million annually to anchor the team's defense. But Prokhorov was in the middle of a summer spending spree, swinging a massive trade to land Celtics stars Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Jason Terry that would send the Nets' luxury tax bill skyrocketing.
It's the kind of bold, brash moves that Kirilenko watched Prokhorov pull off when the two were teamed up for Russian powerhouse CSKA Moscow, and he liked what he saw.
And the Russian roots don't hurt, either. When Prokhorov first bought the Nets, Kirilenko said he envisioned himself one day playing in Brooklyn. He goes to New York, where there is a vibrant Russian community, another big plus for him.
How do you say bull in russian ?
"Stern"
Russian piece of . him.
He was never coming to the Spurs, he so much as admits it by omission.
You guys still hurt about kirelinko? Between ak47 and oden, this will be an off-season to remember lol..
AK to the Russian-owned Nets would be just as reasonable as Rin to the Rockets tbh. They ain't making him their franchise player but will certainly grant him a spot in the Starting lineup at the very least, just like Rin in Houston
Enjoy ur bag of cash fck face
You picked the wrong team to take that shot with!!
he's not winning anything with the nyets
That's great Andre....Now go get your in' shine box!!
Whether your team is good or not, watching the Nets fall flat on their faces next year will provide quality entertainment.
> Wants to win a le
> Moves to the conference containing the Miami Heat
It's not particularly difficult to get a top 3 seed in the East. They have as good a shot as anyone outside the Heat.
this.
if he had signed for $6 or 7M, then you say maybe the team could have made a bigger pitch and outbid that with S&T or creative cap play.
but that he ended up signing for so little makes it almost impossible that he wasn't getting more under the table, and Spurs can't outbid Russian billionaire under the table.
just a side note re: nets salaries: anybody who thinks the 80M luxury tax is going to stop them? ...to a man worth $13B, that's the equivalent of just a $1500 bill to a person with $250K. It obviously be a joke to say that he finds 80M in his couch cushions, however you could completely seriously state that he makes that in monthly interest.
He's worth 13 Billion? Good Gawd. I just did the math. He could spend about 35,000,000 a day for year before running out of money.
THe suitcase full of cash for the remaining nine million that was sitting on his bed back at his Russian home doesn't hurt either.
No way.
