But Martin was armed with Skittles.

This automatically absolves one of the ability to do harm.

There is no doubt in my mind that black men in the US are treated differently in a variety of settings.
For so called Civil Rights leaders to try and prove the above using the faults of our legal system is stupidity.

The clear message, is if you are a young black man, and not a regular in a strange neighborhood, better be careful in gun toting States. This was obvious before this incident. The incident did bring to the forefront the obvious frustrations of African Americans in the US. To use the legal system as an example of why these frustrations persist is clearly NOT getting through to a vast majority of white people, but it does create a divide. So Big Al Sharpton stays in business.

why do you want Martin in the mud? all that matters about Martin is what he was doing when he was murdered. otoh, Z's history of arrests and fighting and profiling are extremely relevant.

CNN’s Don Lemon Backs Up Bill O’Reilly: ‘He Doesn’t Go Far Enough’ In Criticizing Black Culture
    by Evan McMurry | 5:11 pm, July 27th, 2013

Bill O’Reilly’s remarks on race last week drew heavy criticism from Chris Hayes, Bill Maher, Al Sharpton, Larry Wilmore, and more, but one unlikely person is agreeing with him: CNN host Don Lemon.

Lemon addressed the wounds inflicted by black males onto their community on his “No Talking Points” segment Saturday afternoon, saying he was able to bring this up now that the George Zimmerman trial had concluded. Before the verdict, right wing media had consistently asked why the “liberal media” was fixating on Trayvon Martin while ignoring rampant black-on-black violence, a “deflection,” in Lemon’s words, from the injustices of the Martin shooting. But now that Zimmerman had been acquitted, it was time “for some tough love on the subject.”

Lemon played a clip of O’Reilly stating, “The reason there is so much violence and chaos in the black precincts is the disintegration of the African American family…Raised without much structure, young black men often reject education and gravitate towards the street culture, drugs, hustling, gangs. Nobody forces them to do that. Again, it is a personal decision.”

“Bill’s got a point,” Lemon said. “In fact, he’s got more than a point…In my estimation, he doesn’t go far enough.”

Lemon then listed five essential reforms black men need to make in their lives in order to improve themselves and their communities: hike up their pants, remove the n-word from their vocabulary, take care of their communities, finish high school, and lower the rate of children born out of wedlock.

“More than 72% of children in the African Americans are born out of wedlock,” Lemon said. “Studies show that lack of a male role model is an express train right to prison, and the cycle continues.”

“Please, pay attention to and think about what has been presented in recent history as aceptable behavior,” Lemon finished. “Pay close attention to the hip hop and rap culture that many of you embrace, a culture that glorifies everything I just mentioned, thug and reprehensible behavior, a culture that is making a lot of people rich—just not you. And it’s not going to.”

“That said, though, the political right is not off the hook.” Lemon played a clip of Kirsten Powers remarking on how convenient it was the conservative media only cares about black violence when they can use it to “stick it to the black community.”

Zimmerman attorney details battle with prosecutors over evidence in murder trial

    ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. —

Mark O'Mara said his legal fight with the people who tried to convict George Zimmerman is not over.

On Friday, at a Tiger Bay Club luncheon in Orlando, O'Mara detailed the case that garnered national attention.

Mark O'Mara described the struggle he said he went through to get evidence from the prosecution team of Bernie De La Rionda and State Attorney Angela Corey.

He cited the picture of a bloodied Zimmerman, taken the night Zimmerman shot and killed Trayvon Martin, as an example.

"It is undeniable that they had a plan in mind, with the 15 months that we had to get ready, of keeping information from us, and I don't say that lightly, I really don't," O'Mara told the group.

A member of Corey's own team was fired and is now suing her office after he testified that prosecutors had kept evidence from O'Mara.

"You have this type of gamesmanship for the sole purpose of trying to deny a fair trial and, as it turned out, try to convict an innocent man," said O'Mara.

O'Mara has filed a motion that will be heard by Judge Debra Nelson.

He claims prosecutors purposely withheld evidence from him and the defense team.

Channel 9 has learned that O'Mara could go after Corey. She called Zimmerman a murderer on national television after the trial.

"He could bring civil action against Angela Corey for statement she made outside the courtroom. Also, he could file a grievance against her with the Florida Bar," WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said.

Sheaffer asked O'Mara whether he intends to drop the issue.

"I am not done with that motion. I'm not done with Angela Corey. And we are going to be seeing more of each other. We'll see how that turns out," said O'Mara. "This is because this is not supposed to be how we practice as lawyers."

Channel 9 contacted Corey's office for a response, but the call was not returned.

She voted the way the State law is written but now what we have to determine is whether the State stand your ground law violates Federal Law...I think in this case, it might have...
SYG didn't even matter in this case. In any state, if someone is attacking you can fight back. It's self-defense.

10 Reasons Lawyers Say Florida's Law Enforcement Threw Away George Zimmerman's Case

    1. There was enough evidence to convict, despite biased police work.

    2. The governor’s handpicked prosecutor enters with an agenda.

    3. No change of venue was demanded.

    4. The early mishandling of the jury

    5. There were no men on the jury.

    6. The jury was improperly sequestered.

    7. Missteps with the state’s witnesses.

    8. More missteps with Zimmerman’s witnesses

    9. Florida’s abysmal laws compounded the botched prosecution

    10. Florida wanted to get rid of the case, not win it.

It is clear that the details of the Trayvon Martin case will not be forgotten by people who watched the trial or heard it described in detail by radio hosts such as Randi Rhodes, who understand how Florida’s legal system can be stacked in favor of white defendants
    Or not..........

In fact, if all cases are taken into account, black defendants have a higher success rate in claiming stand your ground than do white defendants, and they attempt to claim stand your ground at higher rates.

George Zimmerman’s Wife Says He Has ‘Beaten Down Her Self Esteem’

    Aug 28, 2013 8:46pm
    ABC News

The Florida investigative journalist who is the first reporter to sit down with George Zimmerman’s wife, S ie, said that during their “stunning” hourlong interview, the acquitted killer’s wife said that her husband has “beaten down her self-esteem,” but she is “looking forward to getting her life back.”

Christi O’Connor spoke with ABCNews.com today about her experience locking down an interview with S ie Zimmerman as the media focused its attention on her husband, who was acquitted of second-degree murder charges in the death of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed 17-year-old, in Sanford, Fla., in February 2012.

Today, S ie Zimmerman was sentenced to 100 hours of community service and one year’s probation, plus she will have to present an apology letter to the judge she lied to about the couple’s finances. O’Connor said that after months of courting her and her attorney, she was able to secure the interview with S ie about her life leading up to and since her husband’s trial.

“When I asked her why she was doing [the interview], S ie said, ‘I want to start my life back.’ George Zimmerman has beaten down her self-esteem,” O’Connor told ABCNews.com, adding that S ie is using this opportunity for a new start. “She has a moment in the spotlight. She wants everyone to know that she changed her life.”

S ie also told O’Connor that the aftermath of the shooting and months until the trial put a major strain on the couple’s relationship.

“It put great stress on their marriage,” she said. “Constantly having to move. She got threats. A lot of threats. She doesn’t want to reveal from who…. They are constantly living under fear of being attacked.”

O’Connor, who is working on a book about the George Zimmerman trial, also hinted that there was evidence that was mishandled, saying that during the sensational trial, “there were so many untruths told.”

“What the jury never heard could have led to a different verdict,” she said.

i'm gonna guess zimmerman's 'celebrity' status, love notes from female supporters and his wealth from the evil donations, gave him his opportunity to dump his wife and find him a new woman.

lol this fool is just an all around loser. domestic violence, fighting cops, magistrate judge daddy cleaning a felony off his record, killing unarmed kids, sleeping on his parents couch with his wife as a grown man and now this. he had his wife lie and put her freedom on the line and he repays her by tearing her apart and killing all of her confidence, smh. this dude only cares about himself.

I reread the article and even watched the video. Those references you made that "George Zimmerman has beaten down her self-esteem" and “What the jury never heard could have led to a different verdict,” she said., were nowhere to be found.

I hate to think you're making stuff up doggie.
