For every deep-pocketed owner willing to spend anything for a le (Buss, Cuban), there are 7 or 8 who will do anything to stay below the tax line, and want the cost certainty of a hard cap. Yeah, in the post hard cap world of 2012, I really don't see him opting out of $19M. There won't be anything like that on the open market, Lakers or other wise.

once the Heat get a good Center, and fill the bench better, there is nothing LA can do. You won't beat a Wade-LeBron-Bosh trio with a GOOD center down low and an improved bench.

And I agree that by 2012, Bryant will be irrelevant. If the Lakers were smart, they'd trade Bryant right now while people still think he can play. Bu the reality is that the guy is getting more inefficient by the hour.
