Damn that brunette lol...
"I have no comment on Mexico," Adelman said, then continued: "It absolutely makes no -- really, when you have 41 home games, it’s not a good idea to give a home game against the Western Conference champions away. It’s just me. I’d rather play them here."
"After European players began making an NBA impact in the early 1990s, San Antonio wrote the book on scouting and developing players from the world over en route to four championships since 1999. This year's group includes Manu Ginobili (Argentina), Aron Baynes (Australia), Patty Mills (Australia), Tiago Splitter (Brazil), Cory Joseph (Canada), Nando De Colo (France), Boris Diaw (France), Tony Parker (France), Marco Belinelli (Italy) and Tim Duncan (U.S. Virgin Islands).
Wednesday's game will feature an NBA single-game-record 17 international players.
Both teams have fared well in exhibition games played abroad, especially San Antonio. The Spurs are 8-1 in international games and 3-1 in Mexico City, though they've yet to contest a regular-season tilt outside of the United States or Toronto.
Minnesota (4-2 in overseas contests) did that twice on back-to-back nights as part of the 1999 NBA Japan Games. Their opponent then? The Adelman-led Sacramento Kings.
Then, as now, both teams expressed an outward appreciation for the moment, tempered by recognition that performance is paramount."

Jerry Zgoda @JerryZgoda
This just in from Spurs PR, via @Twolves_PR Spurs C Tiago Splitter not expected to play tonight because of tightness in his left calf
Splitter's presence will be missed against those big bodies. Wonder if Bobo or Ayres gets the start.
Timberwolves have been a tough matchup for us lately. If we play like we did our last two games, the T-Wolves will win
Yep... Can't get killed on the boards and definitely need to defend the 3. Not turning it over a bunch would help too
Oh joy, that means more Penderairs abuse tonight.
Depending on who Pop wants matched up against Pek, Baynes could get the start tonight
Timmy guarding Love would be a disaster tbh. Diaw should get the start.
Dan McCarney @danmccarneysaen
Per Spurs, Splitter out with tightness in left calf. Day-to-day. Questionable for Saturday against Pacers.
Might need Thomas for that Pacers game now
Live on ESPN in Brazil today![]()
Yea, it's tough Splitter is agile enough and can rebound well, so not having him there will hurt a bit, so it'll probably be Diaw. He and everyone else are just going to have crash the boards. I wonder if we'll see Leonard on Love at all. He's obviously a few inches short, but he's guarded Durant/Dirk, etc...
Tiago probably pulled his calf trying to dunk against one of those Mexican kids tbh. But not having him against Love and West on Saturday is a huge loss.
Agreed. If he doesn't play Saturday it's a sure loss. Tonight may not be too big of a deal tho.
pop likes, "typical tiago splitter..." *sigh*
Report is that it happened during the 2nd half of the Hawks game. Hope it isn't serious like it sounds, but we all know Tiago injuries are worse than they sound.
Why is the start time so late?
