Basically what Ive been saying to these imbeciles tbh. Mack turned UT into a monster and for that he deserves some gra ude from UT fans, or at the very least deserve to not get a kick in the ass on the way out the door like these t-shirts are doing.
If you had said it with any brevity and without the t-shirt references people would have agreed with you.

Because a person disagrees that Mack should be forgiven for letting the program rot and for holding the program hostage doesn't make him a "t-shirt fan," which is among the more pathetic and hackneyed insults, by the way. He did great things. He also did ty things. The end.

Theres a few reports out there that Stacy Searels is on his way to Florida.

Bo Davis is apparently a strong candidate for the DL job at Arkansas.

    Neither is confirmed, yet.

I made my stance very clear tbh. Never said t-shirts were the only ones being ungrateful either.

No argument here. Not going to school there does make you one though tbh.

which is among the more pathetic and hackneyed insults, by the way.
Disagree. Some t-shirts are cool but a lot are idiots, the term is a good way to differentiate the educated, reasonable fan from those idiots imo.

nah im pretty sure you just salivate at the chance to call someone a t shirt fan for whatever reason.
even though such fans are what make this entire thing economically feasible.

So let's hear your rendition of Texas recruiting under McWilliams and Mackovic smartass?

Go through those years. Tell the board about the state of recruiting at Texas.
Okay, lets face it, from the 1980's and before, Texas had a real image problem. It was viewed by the black community as a racist school. Fred Akers didn't help matter much, and guys like Barry Switzer and Jackie Sherrill really hammered it home to lots of recruits. Akers himself was a arrogant ass who treated the high school coaches in the state like and they in turn sent the best athletes to Miami, FSU, UCLA, Notre Dame, A$M, and Oklahoma. At one point Texas couldn't recruit anyone off the Texas top 100 much less the national top 100. That's pretty much when the Wheels fell off in 1984-85.

When Akers was fired we brought in David McWilliams, a great defensive coach but couldn't coach offense to save his life. He gave us some good defenses and some of the worst offenses in our history. His saving grace was he recruited Keith and Kerry Cash (two personal friends of mine) and Johnny Walker. Defensively we pulled in some fantastic football players. What we couldn't recruit was linebackers and runningbacks, two positions that aggsy had a stranglehold on.

When MackII came in, He was the offensive genius we were looking for but he couldn't coach defense to save his like. Mack II could recruit offensive players as good as anyone in the country. He even brought in a few gems on defense like Bryant Westbrook, Quintin Jammer, and a few others. Oh and a guy named Ricky Williams.

If MacII could coach defense he would have had a longer career at Texas but he was responsible for some of the worst defenses we ever had at Texas.

When Mack Brown came in, he closed the boarders, Texas still sent kids to Oklahoma, LSU and and once in a while a Big 12 OOS school, but no longer was Miami and FSU stealing the best in Texas. For all of Mack Brown's faults, he is a great ambassador for the school when it comes to the high school coaches here.

My definition of t-shirt: Jumped on board when times were good, don't know squat about the history of the program.

I went to UT 6.5 school years, BS and Masters. I am not as big a fan as people who did not attend the school who know all recruits and coaches, live and die with every loss. They are bigger fans. 4 generations of UT grads in my family yet I know people who are bigger better fans that did not go to UT. But to be ignorant of a program's history causing wild conclusions (Mack sucked and sucks) that's just BS. That's T shirt.

    That would be Michael Jordan.

As a UT fan I don't expect a NC. I expect to see good football. What we saw this year was 8-4 BAD football. Oklahoma, TCU, TT we played well. Our opposition did not imo. That's about it.

I'm assuming your reluctance to answer means you didn't attend ?

I've been round and round about the t-shirt fan thing so there's no reason to go through it again. Those who use it are just using it as a very poor trolling attempt.

Major conference NCAA football is a business, just like the NFL, NBA and MLB...with the University heads playing the role of owners. In Texas, people who are NBA fans will chose the Rockets, Spurs or Mavericks...NFL fans will choose the Texans or the Cowboys...MLB fans will chose the Astros or Rangers...and NCAA football fans will choose the Aggies or the Longhorns. There is a separate dynamic with alumni angle, but overall it runs because it's a business that depends on the casual fan for success...just like pro sports.

So if one was to make a distinction about fans, it would be just like any other sport...loyal fans and bandwagon fans...which seems to be the same angle you are taking.

Technically if they didn't attend they're all t-shirt even the good fans. Nothing wrong with friendly t-shirters though. The pompous ones are the idiots and more likely than not make up the worst people of a college football teams fanbase.

Between non college attenders like you and say MJ, then sure thats the only distinction.

When it comes to the pros, every fan is, by definition, a "t-shirt fan." It has zero impact on their ability to support their team or to judge the ownership's/AD's decision-making. It's a childish attempt to discredit someone's opinion — like saying you can't talk to me about African American history because you're not African American.

College Football is similar to the pros in terms of profit/scale. And in that sense tshirters are an integral part of it.

There's another part of CF that is more like HS football though, the student/alumni side of it and tshirters don't really fit in there. WTF do yall do during the singing of an alma mater for example, you join in ?
