Archie, working class poor urban white bigot, was entertaining, fascinating because he was so politically incorrect. The show had the edginess, daring, beyond the boundaries that moved passed conventional saccharine like the Van /Mary Tyler Moore show.

George J was middle class, respectable urban black always in a suit and tie with his wife, friends always really well dressed, again a jarring, unconventional image compared to unemployed, poor blacks, and black hoods ravaging, eg NYC, Philly, Baltimore, in the 70s, living in "the (disastrous) projects", slums, Bed-Stuy. Sanford and Sons was just funny.

All fake, just like all TV, esp all TV "reality shows", including the fake Duck Dynasty.

I think A&E was just looking for an excuse to dump Duck Dynasty even though they have made millions on the show. The liberal culture at A&E management thought that DD would be an expose on the redneck buffoons that "cultured" people could laugh at like Honey Boo Boo. They never dreamed they would reach cult like status and be the most popular show on cable. It actually turned out to be an embarrassment for A&E management. By doing it this way the DD crew quits and breaks their contract and A&E gets out cheap.

I do hope that everyone planning to boycott A&E over this also realizes that A&E owns History, Lifetime, H2, LMN, Biography and the Military History Channel and boycotts those as well. I also hope they're Nielsen households so their boycott actually has an impact on ratings. Maybe we'll see a slight improvement to cable programming in general if ratings for all of those shows fall.

That is the thinking of some CosmicCowboy related minds in the NFL forum regarding the influx of black qbs, that the NFL commissioner and team owners are on some liberal agenda to promote black qbs in the league (it's not because they can actually play the position, impossible). Why would you risk your fan base, revenue, and the Superbowl to pursue some agenda that may hurt your team by willingly playing black qb's that can't play?
