But even Hakeem played basketball longer than Embiid before his NBA debut. We have to remember Embiid just started playing in 2011 and already is developing a polished game.

Similar in stats, but Thabeet had never developed his raw game.

Come on, people who have seen Thabeet in College knows Embiid is on another level. Thabeet never had the footwork, IQ in college. He was a shot blocking machine. Embiid has offensive moves.
Compare those to his clips in HS and you'd be amazed just how quick Embiid has progressed in such a short amount of time. Embiid in a span of few months under Bill Self has transformed into one of the nations best college prospect. Statistically, he's not impressive and he probably won't even make 2nd Team All American, but he's progressing at a rapid pace.
Very true, he is actually growing as a player. When you look at Parker or Wiggins, you don't see much growth.

yeah, Embiid is already better offensively in the post than Thabeet ever was.
Thabeet was just a n!ggerfreak shotblocking machine in college and that was pretty much it

It's about the eye test. Embiid looks really great when he runs the floor and plays in the post, he's also a good defensive player and positions really well for rebounds.
Lakers should tank for this dude. We know right now it's a guard driven league, but we also know these trends are cyclical. Even still, you must protect the paint and rebound. This dude already does both. I've read comparisons to Dream with this dude. He's raw, but you can see he has tools to work with. Even if he turns out to be no more than Daddy Tyson, (who was The Difference! between Mavs ranging for the 1st time despite many many talented teams) - you still roll the dice with him.

Olowokandi had the potential to be a solid starter in the league, he just never had the discipline. By year 5, he somewhat turned the corner and posted career highs in his career. He still couldn't live up to his expectations but he was getting better.
Mike's problem was his at ude. Embiid is completely a different person and his learning curve is much advance.

Yeah, Parker has definitely regressed, especially late in the season. He came shooting lights out in the first few weeks of December, but Parker has hit a slump shooting 35% for his last 6 games. No wonder Duke looked like a borderline Top 25 team this year. Simply put, the opposition has figured him out and he's struggling to adjust.
Wiggins has been steady but is no longer the best player in his team. He's been acting like a Beta lately. Embiid brings the nasty and fire in Kansas.

Came out after his junior year.
Transferred from a British university, I believe. Although, for the sake of clarity, his 3rd year of playing college basketball.
Embiid looks so damn deadly in the post. People are saying he's going to be a major bust but somehow he's managed to leap Parker and Wiggins and is now considered a #1 pick. This kid is special.
From high school, he has developed very quickly.
