You can probably count the number of times a team/player has had one (or two hands) on the trophy only to lose it.

    -2013 Spurs
    -2011 Rangers
    -Jean van de Velde (BO)
    -Phil at Wingfoot
In the context of the NBA though a 5 pt lead with 28 seconds left doesn't guarantee anything. the Spurs had almost the same thing happen to them in a regular season game against Phoenix. It was a horrible choke no doubt because of the scenario but it wasn't like the Heat went Reggie Miller vs. Knicks on the Spurs.

This is tacit acknowledgement that Parker is totally run down and the Spurs realize he must be 100% in order to compete in the playoffs. This is the right move for sure.

Ok I am going to go way outside the box here. So if you don't like this type of thing then please just check out of this thread and go to another one.....

Tony Parker is going to be out for a while here, according to Pop. Yet he just played in the All-Star game. What if he is being held out because he is being traded and we holding him out to not allow injuries to ruin something big? I have no clue who it could be for or what teams. Just thinking out loud and outside the box.

I would love to see Parker traded for a youth infusion of talent including draft picks. For instance if we could get Drummond and Detroits 1st round pick this year for Parker....I would pack his bags and drive him to the airport myself.

If you listen to the interviews you'd see that it isn't some major injury that's lingering. He's obviously banged up but Pop also thinks he needs a mental break from basketball. I think this is great news. The Spurs and Pop not having the luxury of being able to sit him would be much more worrisome considering he was playing very poorly for the last month.

It wasn't a "choke", it was pure misfortune. On LBJ's first 3 the shot was so bad and came off the rim/backboard so fast that Kawhi, the best rebounder in the series, couldn't hang on to it. He and two other Spurs then spoiled each other for the tip, and Wade made his most athletic play in years to get it. Then there were the two missed FTs, and the final rebound that could not have fallen better for Bosh. Very unfortunate, but I don't see how those cir stances equal "choke".

I love how people still blame me for the injuries when this is the most injury prone Spurs team of all time.

There have been plenty of games with Spurs players going down where I had nothing to do with the game thread.

Shoot just this month against the Wizards they had a lead late and blew that which forced overtime, they have a way of doing that for some reason? It pisses us all off but it happens with this team.

I always said when we start blaming fans over some injuries or their play on a message board then you know you lost. You have nothing to do with it and any real person who thinks without some supers ion crap can see that. They are just older and banged up this year, period.

If I didn't know any better and this wasn't the San Antonio Spurs, I'd think this was an indication of him being traded.

Just watching this kid tonight....I tweak my trade idea... I give them Parker and our 1st for Drummond alone. He will be a 20 and 16 player by the age of 22.

Chris Paul gets a 3 week rest every Dec/January of his career.

It's ignorant of Pop to have waited this long to do this.

    wake up.

there is ZERO chance Parker is getting traded. ZERO. Zip. Nada. Nilch

and regarding Pop doing this now, I'm sure Parker kept saying he was fine and he could play. This is not on Pop. MVParker is just that kind of warrior and would die on the court rather than miss a game IMO

Spurs office finally realizing Spurs can go only as far as MVParker takes em

I see 2 weeks of rest and Parker will slowly come back and hopefully come back to the levels he achieved last year. otherwise Spurs are doomed an early exit.
Sean just reads the right posts in this website IMO

They'll be back a week from tomorrow, and he would have had no live game action for 16 days. I would be inclined to agree with you.

Anyone else annoyed he played in the all-star game? I understand it's an honor, but he'd still have "All-Star" on his resume and more time to heal. Plus, Timmy might've gotten his replacement spot.
that's why i said i didn't want any spurs in the game, but a few up here said i was being selfish. we needed the rest. we aren't young anymore
