He turns 34 in April.
He'll be able to knock down 3s until he's 50, so we still may be very early in the Bonner Era.
"With his style of play he can easily be efficient until he's 45"
He actually turns 34 in April.
Mel beating me to the punch. Just like old times.
we know it has nothing to do with marketing, how many jerseys does he even sell?? It has to do with true love
...
on the Bonner hate. ST, so predictable.
We're talking about love and gay sex here, there's no hate.
I imagine a lot. You dramatically underrate his popularity.
Manu and Parker would get traded before Bonner.
so *this* is the guy that knows where Pop buried the bodies
If the alternates are Jeff Ayres and Aron Baynes, I'm not sure trading Bonner would have been smart.
It's unfortunate the Spurs still have 3 useless bigs, but Bonner is the best out of them, also unfortunate.
3/18 mil... Ayres 4/28
can't tell if you're being facetious but I like Bonner, probably one of the few on here. He is a good team guy, plus Pop and DUncan seem to appreciate him. I wish he had better athleticism that's for sure, but he helps out in the RS. He'll probably make a really good FO type, but as a player, I don't mind an extension if the price is right.
I'm not. Bonner is extremely marketable, especially for a non-star. He has a lot of value to the organization from that standpoint alone.
People don't want to believe it, but it's true. At least among that portion of the fan base that spends money to attend home games.
that's how you reacted when Spurs wanted to give Manu less than $7 million a year. "I only making 10% off this , Greyhound don't run on water."
Matt Bonner will stay in SA two minutes if he is not playing with the Spurs.
A friend of mine literally sees Bonner and his family every other day at Whole Foods. She's talked to him about what he plans to do after he retires and he's mentioned opening a business in SA.
that's interesting. I know he's involved with the union and involved with a lot of stuff, so perhaps he is valuable to the organization. I guess that's like how Manu s were ready to slit their wrists if he was let go right after blowing the Finals. similar situation imo.
I got paidPERIOD.![]()
I remember the Spurs chose to sign Bonner before actually signing Splitter, people were worried Splitter wouldn't have taken the contract as it was around the same amount he was already getting paid. Luckily Splitter signed, but he could've easily turned it down. Pop's man crush on Bonner is ridiculous.
Pop is grooming him to be his heir apparent when he's done. He'll also have a statue made of him outside the stadium.
I want to laugh but then I think how true this really is....
