Pop... because he did it twice.

i actually understand the first one tbh... Miami had a lineup of Chalmers, Wade, Allen, James, Miller. and they wanted the switches, etc. on that play the spurs almost had the rebound but Wade made a terrific play to knock the ball loose when Boris/Kawhi were right there.

after getting burned though, and especially considering Miami brought Bosh in for the last play, i thought the Duncan switch was obvious...

It's sports, sometime you need a lucky break (unfortunately it went Miami's way in Game 6).

Hopefully, we will get it back this year.

Ironically it was the latter that drew & locked me to the Lakers:::the drama of that incident, the way it was covered & exploited by Media then as Kolff was assigned the white hat, Wilt the black. I felt badly for Chamberlain. It was an indelible moment. I can still see the b&w tv screen in my parent's basement as the audio & video played out.

Fast forward 44 years & it's bookend:::Pop's subs ution of Duncan and the subsequent catastrophic event that subs ution initiated.

Pop benching Duncan is only seen as a bad move because the Spurs lost. If Ray Allen misses that corner 3, or Parker hits the game-winner at the end of regulation, or the Spurs win game 6 in OT, or the Spurs win game 7, etc, nobody would be talking about it. People just want to find a scapegoat or have an agenda to on Pop.

You're right, who is to say that even with Duncan on the floor Miami wouldn't have hit a three. The basketball does bounce in a random direction.

But I think what upsets most people is that Coach Popovich didn't subs ute man to man cover with Erik Spoelstra.

Duncan was out precisely because of his lack of mobility. Should a 35-year-old Shaq have been on the floor on defense there?

Of course, no guarantees but when a key rebound is needed and you have the greatest NCAA rebounder (iirc) and a top 10 NBA rebounder sitting during a key defensive posession ...makes no sense. I love Pop. I would kill a homeless man to have him coach my Lakers ...but he ed up. Great thing about sports is the chance for redemption. Probably won't be EXACTLY same scenario ...but Spurs should be West favorites. And will get a chance at some semblance of redemption.

I'm going with C) trading Harden to the Rockets. You had the chance to be superior to our team.. Now you follow the old s.

Well you all know who and what play Popovich is blaming, it's the Danny Green moving forward instead of covering Lebron who hit a open three.

A lot of people don't realize those little things including myself.

Duncan is not Shaq, so I don't know where you're going with that. Duncan was the best player on the floor the whole game; the game doesn't drastically change because the other team needed a 3.
What good is mobility if you have no rebounding?

Would be interesting to see how media would've handled it if that happened today. I'm sure they'd side with Chamberlain
