Was he decent as a backup Lakerfan? He's gotta be better defensively than what they have.

After two games, former Los Angeles Lakers big man Josh Powell is leaving Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.
Team executive Robert Non said that Powell has asked permission to allow him to sign with the Houston Rockets in the NBA. The Rockets are currently holding the fourth seed in the Western Conference standings.

If Powell is anything like his pre-season stint with the Spurs, his best weapon is really just his spot-up jumper.

I do confess my memory of his performance isn't all that sharp, but his mid-range touch is the only thing I remember.

I remember Laker fan really overrating this scrub a few years ago. Kind of the Laker fan equivalent to what Pops Mensah-Bonsu and James White were to upstairs Spurs fan.

Powell can hit the jumpshot but has some trouble inside. Mbenga is better than him down low. His deficiencies were masked by playing alongside Pau, Odom and Bynum. Would be an okay back-up at the 4 or 5 but don't expect a lot from him.
