“It's been a great season, but it doesn't mean anything if you don't win the championship,” point guard Tony Parker said. “Obviously, 63 would be nice, but we did the same thing in '06 and lost in the second round.

“Hopefully, it will be different this time.”

Pop's absolutely right about the mental toughness of this group and I think that point, while obvious to many, needed to be made again. They showed all they needed to show about their intestinal for ude and mental strength by fighting as hard as they did in June to win Game 7 and coming very close to doing it. That Game 7 effort was one of the things that has made me most proud to be a Spurs fan. It sucked that they lost, but they fought their guts out when most other teams would have rolled over and died. I don't think I can ask for much more from my team than that.

Being mentally tough doesn't necessarily mean that you'll win, but it means that more often than not you'll give yourself a chance no matter the cir stances.

I also think the way they approached and played Game 7 made the pre-season predictions in Analyst World that the Spurs would struggle with a Finals hangover pretty much ridiculous.

You are dead on. I just re-watched Game 6 (not because I am a masochist, but because it just was a great basketball game with such intensity) and even in this game the Spurs showed so much resilience. I remembered them being up the whole 4th quarter but they actually were down, came back and built up the 5 point lead in the last 1 and a half minute. Leonard, Green and the others learned so much in this series that I have great confidence going into these playoffs. Lets see if the Clips or Rockets can handle such intensity ...

This may be my favorite Spurs team. Not necessarily the best or most successful (though I hope they will be), but down to nearly every single individual player, I really like them and root for them. Heck, even the much maligned players on this team (Bonner and Ayers) are really, really good guys. Hard not to wish them well.

As others have mentioned, the collective toughness after last year was amazing.

Should any playoff series go to Game 7 this time around, it will be contested at the AT&T Center.
    Gotta love that.

I said it after game 7 and I'll say it again, if any team in NBA history could recover from and redeem last year's Finals loss, it's these Spurs.
It is very impressive for a team that is not in the top 5 of the NBA talent pool. They are kicking ass with character, execution, integrity, teamwork and motivation.
This is a real basketball team. Might be a long time before there is another one like this in the NBA.

    Go Spurs!
