Think that's putting it lightly. He's already been taking visits and talking to other schools regularly for months ie Auburn, LSU, etc. And now he removed his 'A&M commit' from his online profile. He also told Inside Texas he is not "100% committed". The distancing seems to be getting progressively stronger.

Coach Watson did end up making contact with JUCO QB Pat Thomas. I'd say the staff isn't too confident in Ash's health or Swoopes' development if they accept two transfers at QB. Quotes from Thomas (OrangeBloods):

"Yeah, they did. Coach (Shawn) Watson reached out to me the day before yesterday," Thomas said. "Just basically that they finished spring ball and they're evaluating the quarterbacks they have and feel like they need to bring in another QB. He told me of all the guys he evaluated I was the best prospect. He was just asking me my situation about when I'm trying to make a decision."

"Actually, I was supposed to graduate in December but I ended up having to take two more classes. I was done in winter quarter about February,"
he stated. "I initially signed with UAB but they had a coaching change and I got released."

"Initially during my recruiting it was, but once I signed with UAB they stopped,"
responded Thomas about a lot of schools contacting him. "I just took a visit to Louisville last week. Right now, that is my No. 1 school. I think this is where that came from - when I visited Louisville the Texas staff found out. Right now the timing is urgent. I'm not sure if they want to make it urgent. Texas just came out of nowhere in the last few days. I've been open to everyone. I've heard from some smaller schools. I did just take a visit to Louisville and they are no. 1. But he (Watson) was telling me they'd meet with the coaching staff and decide quickly about offering me or bringing me in for a visit."

"One thing I was telling coach Watson: I'm not a high school player,"
said Thomas. "I'm coming out of a JUCO and things are more urgent. I'm not going to pick a school just for the name. I basically haven't had enough time with anyone from Texas. From when I talked to Coach Watson, no one (other schools) else has reached out to me. It's a big possibility that Texas is interested but nothing is official about an offer or visit yet. I felt like they were really interested."

"Competing with everyone isn't a thing I'm worried about,"
the Georgia prospect said. "The thing is right now I'm trying to get the ball rolling and get in school which is why I want to decide in May. If Texas comes in the picture right now, they have to offer me more than what Louisville can right now - coming in and being able to compete, and play, and get the starting position at quarterback. I watched some of the Spring Game. I can compete right away. I'm going from UAB a smaller school to a bigger school. Originally I felt like I should be at a bigger school, but it didn't happen that way. I want to take advantage of that now. Texas came out of nowhere. If Texas is really interested in me, they have to show me that as well. And I told Coach Watson that and he said he'd get back to me. Honestly, they have to make a move before Louisville because I'm ready to sign with Louisville."

Texas is obviously back on his radar and there's a loooooong way to go before even discussing him being a Longhorn, but Coach Rumph recruiting him is starting to remind me of Coach Bo recruiting Malcom (and Rumph is better than Bo). I can't wait to see how this unfolds. Just Mack de-committing from A&M has potential to affect a handful of others, so it will make the 2015 cycle more exciting. Right now he strikes me as that kid who ends up signing with the hot team.

    • Any Rivals subscribers able to see this post?

Rivals250 linebacker Anthony Wheeler has his top five, and a leader, but he is also keeping an eye on a few other top programs. (https://footballrecruiting.rivals.co...sp&cid=1634213)
    • Another thing on Twitter that stood out was this tweet:

WVWilkerson: Was 2016 4-star DB @MaydenII (Jared Mayden) close to committing over the weekend? More on @HornsDigest: http://texas.scout.com/2/1396713.html #Hookem #UT
But I know enough to know the answer to those question-style teases is "Yes" 90% of the time.

    • Finally, Kyler Murray tweeted "May 1st," which, if it's recruiting-related, is probably when he'll make his decision.

Yep. If he makes a quick flip before the season, it wouldn't surprise me if he flipped once more before NSD. He's going to end up with the flavor of the month, which may not be Alabama or A&M after this season. (Not that we will be either.)

From the article on LB Anthony Wheeler (Rivals):

"It's (the top five) pretty much still intact," Wheeler said. "It's pretty much the same. I'm just trying to wait to get about three or four more offers and visit other schools also."

"OU is standing out right now," Wheeler said. "It was just when I went over there I had a good sync with them, a good connection with the coaches and I got to talk to a few of the former players, and I got to talk to a true freshman who got a lot of playing time. He had a great freshman career. I just liked the process over there."

"Right now it's probably been Texas, OU and Baylor,"
Wheeler said. "They've been hitting me up on Twitter and have been telling me to call them. I've been talking to coach Strong probably about every week and talking to coach Kish from OU on Twitter about every week, and I've been talking with coach Gush from Baylor every week also."

"I know for sure I'm going to try and go down to Ole Miss during the summer and Alabama and probably get up to Michigan," Wheeler said.

"I'd like a Notre Dame, LSU, and Stanford offer,"
    Wheeler said.

"My thought process would probably be just a good educational school, a good facility, a good family atmosphere,"
Wheeler said. "And I'll just see how my family feels about it and how I feel about it, about the coaches and the players welcoming the new freshmen."

Pretty easy to figure out where to go once I pulled up to the hotel.

    The bus.

    Coach Strong signing posters.

Room was a bit small. Could have picked a better venue but it worked out ok.

Tim Crowder and Tre Newton. They said Earl was there but I never saw him. Surprising he didn't come out and at least acknowledge the crowd.

Coach Strong on stage. Said a lot of standard issue motivational stuff but he has a solid stage presence and it's easy to see why the kids warm up to him so easily. Really has the feel of a guy you could just sit down and shoot the with.

    Coach Moorer

    Tre Newton and I.

He was standing behind me the whole time Strong was talking and I had no idea until Strong acknowledged him during his speech. I wanted to get a picture of him but I was hesitant because I he just gives you that uneasy feeling...like he might take the phone from you and shove it up your ass. I finally worked up the nerve and slid backwards a bit and snapped a shot of him. It was definitely and uncomfortable few seconds though.

    From the article -

Indianapolis (Ind.) Lawrence Central Top247 linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr. will not make his college decision at the end of May as originally planned.

Michigan, Ole Miss, Penn State and Tennessee were considered the favorites for the nation's No. 6 inside linebacker, who picked up recent offers from Nebraska and Texas.

"Need more time to evaluate my options," Kirkland said, adding he'll release a top eight on Sunday.
"Just want to give the school that I haven't seen a fair shake."

Daylon Mack told Auburns 247 site that he's going to watch Texas intently this year. In particular he plans on watching DT Malcom Brown closely.

Scout also stated Mack may be wavering in his commitment and that Auburn in top group with Texas.
